Had a subtle shift in visitors over the last couple of years. Previously inundated with mostly Blue and Great Tits (they also use our nestboxes) plus the regular Nuthatches, Robins, Wrens and suchlike (plus bigger woodland residents like jays, woodpeckers etc) but now getting increasing numbers of Goldfinches (this is the second year we've had an obvious group of youngsters feeding with the parents) and now Greenfinches. My neighbour often talked about the hordes of Greenfinches that he used to see in the 80s but we'd never seen them until recently (we've lived here almost 30 years, he's been here 40 and is an avid bird man) - from an initial pair last summer we're now getting several on the feeders multiple times a day. Costing me a fortune in sunflower hearts
Yellow wagtail. [Edit - wrong colour legs. I think it's a grey wagtail.}Does anyone know what this is?
I’m afraid I know very little about this subject…..View attachment 192046

Not surprised it's the only bird there. It's a raptorWhere have all the birds gone this morning ?
I've only got one lonely bird, despite having loads of feeders out

As @Si Gull says, Great Spotted - it’s a female (with no red on the back of it’s head)Another new visitor to the feeder in our tree this morning. Anyone enlighten me please?
Your local Sprawk clearly doesn’t know the meaning of “stealth”Where have all the birds gone this morning ?

Jealous. We live on a newish estate (built 5 years ago) and we're lucky to get a couple of Robins and Blue Tits, occasionally a Pied Wagtail. I've planted trees/shrubs, put in a small pond, but it's still a wildlife desert. As @Si Gull says, Great Spotted - it’s a female (with no red on the back of it’s head)
Feeders and garden exceptionally busy today on a very stormy, rainy weekend here in Norfolk -
Just in a 30 minute window watch maximum number seen at any one time:
35 Blue Tits
10 Great Tits
15 Greenfinch
10 Chaffinch
20 Goldfinch
2 Coal Tits
2 Magpie
4 Blackbirds
2 Robin
12 Woodpigeon
2 Dunnock
1 Wren
6 Jackdaws
And yaaay! A Nuthatch yesterday - not a common bird on my feeders.
Lucky you! I get fewer and fewer birds on my bird feeder - never got big numbers to start with (a few blue and great tits, with occasional visits from the long-tailed tit gang; plus a robin) but I haven't seen a bird in the garden at all for weeks now.As @Si Gull says, Great Spotted - it’s a female (with no red on the back of it’s head)
