As disappointing as results have been in the last few weeks, a win on Saturday changes everything and makes 8th entirely possible.
True, but our chances of finishing 8th are about 30% at best and we're badly out of form. Don't put your mortgage on us beating West Ham, despite them being utter shite.

30% chance of Europe with five games to go?

I'd take that all day long.

Head says 5 heart would love 11.

Whatever the respective merits of IN/OUT I fail to see a single example where FZ motivational skills have resulted in a spell binding performance that blew the other team away. Individual brilliance - Mitoma several times to the astonishment of his team mates, Welbz by example, or Rutter through sheer impudence and ability - have at times triggered excellent match winning spells but watching FZ post match comments several times on youtube just leaves me feeling like he's got the motivational skills of a mid level executive at a regional insurance company rather than the youngest Premier league manager in history.
There have been a number of games where we have come back from being behind and especially after half time. I do agree that none of us have seen examples of his motivational skills though......but then it's only a select few who know what's said in the dressing room and training.

My post was badly worded and I will edit - I meant the post match in dressing room comments. You can see from the players faces to them listening to him is like doing some kind of menial DIY task at home with the Mrs watching your every move.

End of season it all comes down to which team is more motivated to win.

On that basis I think the following:

West Ham - crowd will be up for it, players should be. Don't think West Ham players care very much. WIN
Newcastle - they are very keen to reach champions league spot and will be well up for it. Also will be keen to revenge the two previous defeats to us in league and cup. LOSE
Wolves - they will be safe and have nothing to play for. But by then neither may we? Hard to call but home advantage will help them possibly get a draw. DRAW
Liverpool - they will have won the title, we will clap them on and give them a love in. Probably enough to match them, but they are the league winners. DRAW
Spurs - if we need a win to get 8th we should be motivated. They will quite possibly only still be thinking about their Europa final. However it is their last home game of the season and they won't want to lose it. DRAW

So six points for me.

Well at least one of the WHU players is motivated and he is blaming the players whilst supporting his manager. It would be nice to hear an Albion player mention the manager at all…

Fullkrug told Sky Sports: “It is a mindset problem. Very angry today.

“Not disappointed, just angry with what we did after the goal. It was difficult to bring the boys back to push up, we didn’t push up anymore.

“We tried, but we didn’t have the ability or the motivation to push up again. I am very, very angry that we played like this.

“We had some minutes where we showed what we can do against an opponent like that at home.

“We showed the possession we can have, that we can go in behind and have the chances to score again.

“That is not the way it works. We have to find a way to have togetherness, to have the idea, where we want to go and what we want to do.

“The coach was very clear with what he wants, we have to do it all and everyone has to do it.”

I was going to raise this when I first read it yesterday.

It's not massively dissimilar to what Danny Welbeck also said this weekend: essentially saying the group of players need to get their shit together.

Quite but at no stage did he have anything to say about the manager, which did seem odd to me. I was hoping for “we let him down” which leads me to think that FH may be part of the problem with DW. Who knows

Sussex but not by the sea
I said on the morning of the Leicester game that IMO it was the first real 'must win' of the season. West Ham is now bigger. We lost all momentum with that shit international break and even shitter FACQF. But we were in a similar dip when Chelsea turned up. The genuine dislike of Chelsea saw a great atmosphere and the team lifted. It might need similar Saturday, Potter will not get a friendly reception, and for the team that should be a good thing as it will generate an 'up and at them' atmosphere, at least to begin with. If I were FH I'd spend every minute of training this week working on moving the ball quickly and not around the back line, FFS don't kill your own home atmosphere
I feel it's now or never for this season.
