okay so I think this is right.

so if Chelsea win Conference League and don't finish in Top 5 but Come 6th, 7th or 8th place - 9th place gets Conference League. (as long as Palace don't win the FA Cup)

'By rights, the winners of the Conference League get a place in the Europa League. If Chelsea lift the trophy and finish inside the top five, there will be no change to the allocation. If Chelsea win the Conference League and finish sixth, the Premier League gets an extra team in the Europa League, and nine in Europe'

I think that is correct. The wording on the UEFA website suggests that and it's been reported elsewhere ( I posted an ESPN link the other day)

If Man city get a mega points deduction, it could be 10th!

Well no, it would still be 9th, just that Man City would no longer be one of those 9

Seeing as Leeds are in the Prem next season i assumed they got an automatic spot because of what they achieved 100 years ago?

I wonder if their fans will show the slightest bit of humility this time round after another session in the Championship. I doubt it.

None whatsoever they already think teams like BHA, Muff & Brentford should be replaced with proper teams with History like them Sunderland & Middlesbrough.

I’m dreading them next season

There is a scenario where we don't get a Conference place this season but 3 teams in Europa league instead. It was explained at the start of MOTD on Saturday.

Is that right? I thought in that scenario they just take one of the two Europa spots and there would only be an extra spot if they finished too low to otherwise qualify for Europa (i.e. 8th)?

There must be a reasonable chance of this happening. Assuming they win their semi , fiorentina & real Betis are decent teams but not top teams in Spain & Italy - I would expect Chelsea to be good enough to squeeze past them. Hopefully anyway as long as their form doesn’t take them into the top 5 !

As I wrote somewhere else, we know that a year from now some pundits will be saying it's a shame that Leeds have been relegated because they deserve to be in the Premier League as they are a big club.

Unlike Brighton, Brentford and Fulham.

My Leeds mate was definitely a bit quieter yesterday than when they went up last time, when he was talking about European qualification the next season.

You sound very confident we're not going down next year. I'd have thought that was a near certainty, judging by the general feeling on here after the Brentford game.

My understanding is that we now have 5 Champions League places, 1 Europa and 1 Conference. 1 place for each cup that gets added to league positions if the winner has already got a European place. Newcastle have that. So that must mean 8 Euro places so far.

Assuming the FA Cup goes to a top 8 side then that makes 9 places doesn't it?

And if Arsenal win Champions League - would that make 10 places?

And if another English Club win the Europa or Conference that would mean 1 or 2 more wouldn't it?

So I may be wrong, but doesn't it look odds on that 9th would get a Euro place of some kind, and it could even be OK for 10th or 11th?

Think you'll find it's two Europa League places, one for 6th and one for the FA Cup winners. (adjustments can be made if the teams in those positions qualify for champions league). If Chelsea win the conference then it's three.

are you assuming that Bournemouth and Spurs will also be relegated? Shouldn't they be in that list too?

"What if the winners qualify for the Europa League via domestic competition?

If the Conference League winners qualify for the 2025/26 league phase of the Europa League through its domestic competitions, the vacancy created is filled by the club with the highest individual club coefficient of all the clubs that qualify for the main path or play-offs of the Europa League. That club must be either the domestic cup winner or the highest domestically ranked club from its association that has not already qualified for the league phase of the competition directly."

Source: https://www.uefa.com/uefaconference...e-league-winners-get-a-2025-26-europa-league/

So Chelsea would have to finish 8th (or 7th if Palace win the cup) in order for England to get a third Europa spot. Otherwise the spot goes to the club in the qualifying rounds with the highest coefficient.
