I think a few on the thread have spectacularly missed the point of the programme.

And yes, I'm pretty sure all of us over 30 had moments in our childhood/teen years where we thank the Good Lord that camera phones weren't back around then...

Without wanting to be pedantic or condescending Mellotron could you please explain 'missed the point of the programme'.
I believe Graham has spoken about it referring to getting the idea for the production because of knife crime in schools or school boys. Is this the point you are making? A poignant part in the story was when the counsellor asked Jamie did he really know what death meant...there is no coming back. Teenagers need to hear that message.

Adolescence throws open so much more than just knife crime, which itself is brutal enough but also how society is seen by the youth, parenting, educating and just being a child/young person in todays world.

Born In Shoreham
My oldest lad showed no interest in plumbing but now works for Southern Water, not as a plumber though but still dealing with water leaks.
My youngest helped me on jobs during the holidays when he was doing A levels at college, he’s very practical and a quick learner, would make a good plumber.
He’s at University now and doing well, I didn’t encourage him to work with me as I’m happy he’s enjoying himself and will graduate this year and he’s then doing his masters (gets his brains from my wife)
Glad it’s working out for them, the last job my daughter was on she got tipped £50 which made her day.

That was a surreal watch. The whole concept of roles in society as being fixed and defined. Being a man, being a woman. How about focusing on just good character rather than enforced traits ? I find this debate so utterly bewildering.

Not many have mentioned Erin Doherty in Episode 3, obviously because how good Owen Cooper is, but she was outstanding. She's great in A Thousand Blows too
The two of them were just superb together. Their timing … the silent pauses and then one of them speaking … the facial expressions and how they responded to each other. Brilliant

I find it so strange when people wang on about the male role being hunter gatherer just because we were when we lived in caves. Now we hunt and gather around Tescos. Pretty sure you don’t need to be strong to do that.

Far more jobs used to require physical strength whereas now many different skills are used. So why is it still man’s place to work?

I reckon that I am a better parent than my wife but she is a better worker than me. Who cares? We have different roles at home but not traditional. I do most cooking and washing. She does cleaning and whoever remembers does the bins. I spend more time with the kids.

Live and let live ffs.

Symptomatic of people that spend to much time online in the ''manosphere''

Gave that up pretty quickly. Morgan is a very good example of how news media is culpable for giving credence to idiots, seemingly in the name of balance, but really in the search for clicks and the revenue that follows.

The first bloke who spoke had obviously not watched the programme and just spieled what is presumably his set script for his podcast, whilst smoking a fag on telly, the give away sign of someone trying too hard to look like a rebel. Of millions of people who the producers could have on, they chose him. They knew he would have nothing of worth to contribute to the debate, that he would just try to troll the other speakers and repeat his one point about men in wars, yet they invited him.

That is because they are not interested in the debate. They gain nothing from a nuanced debate. Their aim is simply to get a clip that will be shared on the internet, because that's how they make money and they are not there to report or discuss news. They are there to make money. They are masquerading as impartial moderators in search of the truth, but they just want outrage, because that's what pays. Young people are confused are they? They're finding it hard to understand how they fit into today's world, who to trust, who has a hidden agenda. Well they're not alone in that.

Very true. And then to match they find the most campest, leftist and possibly 'wokeist' person to simply fuel an argument whilst the poor bloke on the right has that slowly dawn on him when being crowded out. It's basically a more organised and intellectual version of the Jerry Springer Show.

I'm not sure how Piers Morgan has any air time. The first role of a chat show host is to be as invisible as possible whilst keeping the debate flowing and ordered. I never seen him do a piece in which he hasn't failed that.

I don't know what purpose he serves as a thing.

Playing devil's advocate here. If we had to fight a war, who would do the actual fighting :)

Men, because it's nearly always men who start wars. I'm not sure the mothers of the world would be destroying so many lives.

Well it would obviously be more like to be men because that is back to things where physical strength is a benefit. Is the theory that we should keep traditional roles just in case there is a war?

If all previous wars are anything to go by, the working class.
