At the WC Macca was brought in after Saudi Arabia humiliated Argentina.

Proceeded to boss the midfield against Mexico, Poland, Australia, Netherlands, Croatia and France. And finally after a stack of failed WC’s Messi had the perfect player to compliment his genius.

TB strikes again. Additional dosh for new defenders.
One, maybe 2 . . .

I'd like to see investment in fitness coaching, injury avoidance . . . . Which is probably/possibly why some of our acquisitions take a year or so to get up to speed . . . . Strength . . . . Durability etc.

recent years player activity and loans prove that. . .

Best place for him to go; if we must lose players I'd rather they went to a decent club - wish Caicedo's Mum wasn't so determined to live in London and not move norf!

My guess is that Caicedo‘s agent (or it might’ve been a duo) was promised the earth in February 2023 by Chelsea and got it …. they made damn sure by keeping Caicedo in a London hotel at the time of the transfer that he wasn’t staying at Brighton or joining any other club. Chelsea paid £75m to agents in the 12 months to February 2024. Caicedo was the main asset on the agents book at that time.

I know - but the story about his Mum wanting to live in London is a good 'un! :lolol:

But his dream was to go to arsenal wasn't it?🤭

Max payable is £563,83,000 …I wonder what Albion achievements trigger these pay outs?

Hopefully league position is relatively unrealistic. It would be crap to finish 8th and have to cough up a load of dollar.
It will obviously vary depending upon the circumstances of the club at the time, and it can be both club-related items and individual player performance items, but to give a couple of previous examples...

We signed Dan Burn on a four-year deal from Wigan in August 2018. In July 2020 the Sun reported that if we stayed up that (Covid-19 pandemic delayed) season we would owe Wigan a "sizeable sum". Later that month the BBC reporter Simon Stone tweeted that our survival would see 250k heading to Wigan. So, as that was the second season of his deal, it may well be that we owed 250k each year (of his 4-year contract) if we avoided relegation.

We signed Jensen Weir (also from Wigan) in July 2020. In 2021 their administrator admitted that the deal he had negotiated with Albion included appearance-related add-ons, with "six figures on the way for every 10 league starts up to a certain level".

Incidentally, both those deals also included a sell-on clause but that won't be included in the figures in the annual report because they are unknowable (unlike defined criteria where a set amount becomes payable if an event happens).

When we sold Leo Ulloa to Leicester City in July 2014, the initial 8million fee was subsequently boosted by a further 2million received based upon appearances and the Foxes staying up for two years.

Barring Chelsea (the truly evil force in English football), I’d rather he’d gone anywhere else. Hate Liverpool and their supporters (especially the plastic ones down here). I’d rather he’d gone to Man Utd than Liverpool, that’s how strongly I feel about it.

I’m not as annoyed by Liverpool fans as some on here but one of the exceptions is when they harp on about their 35 million bargain basement deal. It would be lovely to know how close we got to the 55 million that was also regularly mentioned at the time of the transfer and if today’s events has sealed that. A few of you with sources at the club must be able to get an inkling pretty please
