Fair points although I for one am very happy that the government did the buy back thing. I feel far safer living in a society where guns are controlled. It is far to easy and efficient to kill with guns.
Thats all well and good mate, but that's something thats simply in your mind. It doesn't make it a real thing.
They didn't ban guns because it 'might happen one day" they banned guns because it did happen. the fact is that it hasn't happened since and most people have managed to adjust to the way of living and since i have lived in Australia you are only the second person I have ever heard complaining about it.
Have you ever thought that its because of the people you associate with that you only hear one opinion? To say people have adjusted to it really can't be taken as much because the people who pushed for it to happen the most were never affected by it in the first place.
I know a lot of people who are still pissed off by the Governments actions. This is probably because politically I converse with people who prefer a Libertarian view of the world rather than that of a Greens socialist view of it. Those people arent exactly a minority. Evidence of that is the Shooters Party in NSW having won and held seats in that State Parliament.
