I was planning to go as I have family and friends there. Siblings, nieces, nephews, lots of friends.
I have been a regular visitor since my 3 sisters and brother emigrated there late 60's, early 70's.
Have told them no way am I going while the Orange Tool is in power. Said we can meet in Canada.

No need to boycott the matches in Mexico and Canada though.
Good plan! I can see getting back into the US from either country to watch a game in the US afterwards potentially turning into a big problem!

Hmmm tuff one.

The wife and daughter go every summer for two weeks to Michigan to see the Trump supporting father-in-law, they drive up from Commerce up drop the boat in Mullet Lake and then up Indian River and out into Huron and up to the upper peninsula of Michigan, they see family while out there and have a great time. They do not talk politics and not all the family voted for Trump.

We talked long about if they should go this year because Trump is in power, there are scare stories of folks being stopped at immigration and even people being turned away because anti Trump Instagram posts. I am not fan of two weeks on a boat, I get motion sickness so that is an out for me, and if they did look at the one social media account I do have facebook and could retrieve stuff, I am pretty sure they would not let me in. Which has kinda made me think about a planned trip I have at Christmas going to see my old friend who moved to Sonoma out in California, I will have to think about that.

Back to the wife and daughter they both have American and UK passports so if they show there US passport they should be fine, neither have social media accounts. The wife was very hesitant to book this year though and I had to remind her several things.
1: Your family are all good people, some with silly views that can be reasoned with, they are just caught up in whirlwind that is being litrally forced on them, or disappeared down a rabbit hole on social media. When you have spoken to them about politics they agree with you, and will come up with "he wont do that" etc - treat them with respect and they will figure it out themselves never say I told you so.

2: The most important thing you have to remember is 77 million people voted for Trump and 75 million people voted for Harris
Take that in a second 75 million Americans voted for a mixed race women.
If ever there was a sign of hope for America that is a huge bonus.

I also reminded her that although Michigan flipped, the folks that voted for him in Dearborn that caused that flip have been shafted already with Trump siding with Israel, they will never vote for him again.

They are going, and I will probably go in December for a week, but I would not be surprised to be sent back on the next flight if the stories are true.

Is there evidence that they look at their social media posts before letting you through immigration - seriously?

New immigration policy requires all U.S. Consulates to review applicants' public social media history, past e-mail addresses and recent phone numbers when adjudicating visa applications.

I've been to over half of the 50 US States.

I won't be adding to that total for a while.

Easy to say that at the moment, as have nothing booked - so nothing to cancel.

I have just applied for ESTAs and you have to list all your social media accounts.
I think that’s always been on the form but it was possible to leave it blank. I’ve certainly never filled it in. Maybe mandatory now?

Why is everyone against america?

The media have got you guys where they want you
The Media is owned by the Corporations, who want the people divided and arguing. Whilst we all squabble about orange men and mixed-race women in our little huddle they're merrily doing what the f*ck they like whilst we're distracted....

I facepalm sometimes.
