I expect there's already a thread about this but I can't get the image verification thing on the search facility to work.

I usually go to the Raj pavillion (by the Viaduct) or Bombay on Preston Street. Supposed to be taking some mates out for a curry tonight but would like to try somewhere different. Can you please give me some good recommendations (and ones to avoid!)... Preferably central Brighton/Hove/Western Rd ish.

Cheers...

Didn't they get done by health & safety a while back? Either way I remember hearing some sort of horror story about their kitchens and have avoided ever since.

What about the all you can eat buffet in Ship St?

Not heard this myself. Where did you hear about this?

The Raj was one of the worst Kitchens I have been in. There were Flies in the food which was mostly kept on the floor. A lot of the staff live above the restuarant where the facilities were pretty shit too... Was there about 12 months ago however I doubt much has changed

Through my job I have been in the kitchens of pretty much every Take away and Restaurant in Sussex. A lot are pretty shit to be honest with you .... Especially the Kebab houses and Indian Restaurants

First hand info then. I was going to go there tonight...not sure now.

Curry Mahal along Portland Rd is good.
That said, you can't really go wrong with the Elizabethan.

Sorry, only know London ones - but if a chain up here ever opens one down there, it will be one of the best ruby's you've ever tasted.

No surprise that the Bombay Bicycle Club does Gordan Ramseys favourite curry.

I've been to the one in Balham. Top ruby.
