I'm very sorry to say that I have no complaints this time, aside from the app that wanted my life history again (hopefully) I cancelled the order & went to the bar. I took my Dad (not quite got him over yet) but he thought it was an amazing place.
I retract the 1st bit now I'm thinking about it! :lolol:
The first screen on the left (if you're looking outwards) has what I can only describe has a small horizontal scratch on it, that once I'd seen it I couldn't un-see it. There are however 3 other screens.
People shoved up to let my Dad perch on the end of the bench. I was trying to use the app to show Dad how simple it was when there was no queue at the collection point, but as I said I abandoned it & went to the bar.
I was most heartened when I went to the bar, to see the young kid behind the bar, refusing to serve people who looked the same age as him but they didn't have ID. I was extra, extra impressed when he was keeping an eye on the collection point to check they didn't go that way instead. Although he may have only done that because I said well done for standing your ground & not serve them! :lolol:
Dear youngsters, I'm very sorry for being an old bag, things weren't quite as strict when I was your age. Now I'm old, I'm going to be really pissed off if you don'r get away with the things we did and the Terrace lose their licence. Soz!
Queues were fine, food looked lovely, the atmosphere is what you'd expect for the game. Fair play to the people on the left as you were looking at the screen who were starting a mini North Stand.
There were early leavers but as always I stayed to clap the team off (I still had half a pint).
It was a good atmosphere even though we lost, i'd imagine it to be really good when we win.
Most importantly, there was no buffering or cutting out, slightly weird to hear the Albion TV guy commentating but he was good once the sound was sorted (I'd say he could've been a tiny bit louder). .
In no way what so ever do I think that the current pricing will stay (mainly the free beer). If that's the max they let in, that is perfect, everyone can see the screens and there was no pushing & shoving everyone.
It was a different world to my last venture in there on a match day.
My Dad made me chuckle, he said that whoever thought of putting this in must have a good eye for business. Er yeah, that would be Tony Bloom the reason why we're not still playing at the Withdean. 😂

I think the screens are made up of smaller panels, the "scratch" is just the edge of one of the panels, if you look closely you can see the panel edges, and like you say once seen your eye tends to focus on it, if the one you are talking about is the screen that is on the angle adjacent to the stairs at the station end, I saw it too, but its a very minor issue
I found the atmosphere fine, although understandably a little flat second half, like you say when (if?) we win, the place will be rocking for a good while after the match ends

On a separate note, we did notice a large number of people leaving stadium when we arrived, which was about 5-10 mins before the end of the WSL match! Early leavers isn't just the mens game

I got there at opening time as I wanted a ‘good’ seat upstairs - I got one and apart from the result had a really good time. Ended up chatting and drinking with a couple of interesting supporters.

Service was great - toilets were very easy to find(I don’t quite understand Mile Oak’s difficulty) - and all worked really well I thought. It’s just a shame we messed up the game itself!

I would far rather have been at the game itself and will rarely, if ever again, buy the flights before I have the tickets(I’ve already done it for Spurs🙈) but as a second choice n the circumstances I enjoyed it as much as possible!

I went to the WSL match as well as the beamback,
the least entertaining WSL game I have attended, both teams seemed to be on the beach, not suprised with the early leavers!!

Also seemed to be issues getting everyone in on time compared to usual on the east side, still long queues just before kick off with no obvious reason other than possibly loads of one of visitors struggling with the ticket scanners.

No it was horizontal sort of 'pixels'. I did notice the vertical panels but that was only when I started looking for another screen to look at & work out what was supposed to be shown in between the 'match' screen.
If anyone does any building projects & wants someone to give then a 'snag' list, I am that person. If a tiny bit of filler has been missed anywhere, I will notice! :lolol:

I didn't realise there was a WSL game going on and wondered why people were walking by in 'waves' & the place not getting rammed. That also explains why a bloke with his 2 kids in colours seemed surprised when he was told it was ticket only. I was outside having a vape, did the same at half time as well & felt like a naughty school kid.
Once you know that downstairs there are toilets at each end at the back, they're not hard to find.

Usually at friendlies and matches not attended by loads of regulars there are often those sort of delays at the Amex. Folks just not knowing how to use the gates

Have you been upstairs in The Terrace yet or likely to soon?
I have actually! I went up there yesterday, there was no where to sit & it didn't look like the view would be great unless you could get to the balcony bit at the front with the bar stools. That area had a lot of towel equivalents on. There is a possibility that I may have missed extra screens as I was scanning for seats.
I don't have an Amex card so I can only give you a commoners view when we're allowed up there. For a beam back no. For pre or post match beers I'd say yes.
Unless a steward can be guaranteed to say to me 'American Express, that'll do nicely' at the bottom of the stairs, I'm not getting a card for it.

I was up there yesterday with my youngest son, he pointed out the underside of the metal roof that had hundreds of nails poking through, we could see at least 50mm and the point of every nail showing through.

That's just mean to tell me that!
I'm not going up there now as I'll look for them & they will drive me insane. :lolol:
