True, but the premise is worrying. It would not be outrageous to suggest that a battered wife could be coerced into an sharia arbitration rather than going through the proper channels of the British legal system and a punishment not be meted to the offender.

yeah- i agree. that would be atrocious. but domestic violence is a criminal offence, so it's the british police and courts who deal with it. If domestic violence isn't reported, that's not because of the koran, Mohammed didn't invent wife-beating. That's because of some sadist, and every culture has wife-beaters. Heard some guy chanting “EDL” outside Vicarage Road at the end of the Watford vs Brighton cup game. Embarassing, disgusting and I was desperately hoping he wasn't an Albion "fan".

I also heard this, and they were indeed Brighton "fans" although i had never seen them before! It was very embarassing, plenty of people singing Albion songs on the street after a great win, and this descends to people walking the streets chanting "E E EDL..."
