We’ve had some real shockingly bad performances at home this season. The team is so wildly inconsistent at the moment.
0-0 Ipswich at home
1-1 Southampton at home
2-2 Wolves at home
2-2 Leicester at home

is actually quite consistent

A deflating but inevitable afternoon as we have always struggled to win games against relegation fodder since we got promoted. The lack of control in midfield without Baleba there was concerning.

I think the best we can hope for now is a top half finish. I could see us imploding though like the end of last season. As expected, the international break has ruined our season.
I don't buy the international break thing. We aren't the only club that has had to deal with it!

100 %. Problem is Dunk is so easily out of position as he now far too slow.
Easy to blame Dunk, but he's the only proper defender on the pitch today. In playing Baleba at the back, we lost his protection from midfield. IMO, we should have had Cashin and played Weiffer and Baleba in MF.

Weiffer was bought because he can drop into CB when needed. Everybody knows Dunk is shot for pace now, we should have protected him with a more mature, defensive minded midfield. I think we gave Leicester nowhere near enough credit and they made our defensive weakness.

Easy to say after the fact and from a different country, mind you.

Disappointing today.
How did it happen?
I don't know.
I don't know any more than Pep knows how Citeh have become bang average this season.

But if you read any of the data published by A Dullard, you will find we are still punching above our weight.
Ninth in the league. If we finish there it will be our equal second best finish.
Ever.

And Grown Men are losing their shit.
No wonder we have just lived through a series of utter shite tory governments.

If the public get the governments they deserve, some footy fans get far, far more than they deserve.

Most clubs didn’t have so many important players travel such long distances. We also seem to have lost all our momentum as we were on great form before the break.
Yeah I do see that part of the argument but some of the issues is down to how the club/coaching team managed it. Mitoma, Minteh and Joao Pedro should not have played v Forest.

It's a great shout. I think that tweak later on in the game would've seen us hold on.

Agree. We cannot point to a f***ing international break as the problem. We’re not winners simple as. We haven’t got the mentality. Only under RDZ or promotion winning team did we have it and even then we failed to win the league (I’d add Micky Adam part 1 to this too). Our rise has been remarkable. What a club. But when push comes to shove we don’t get over the line.

I’m also not having injuries being a big reason for not achieving more this season. It hasn’t helped but we’ve a big enough squad to win so many of the games featuring players who were bought to play in the first team.

I'm trying to watch the golf but what the hell is the correlation here?
Total, utter nonsense.

Agree with a lot of that. My posts are generally negative but suspect many would have settled for finishing 9th or 10th (probably above Palace) at the beginning of the season. It’s the throwing away of points and other good performances which make you think you’ll do better. It’s the hope that kills you!

I think the injuries are killing us. Combination play is harder when the team isn't settled and missing Rutter, Mitoma and JPvH is massive. I agree though, we should've been good enough to beat a terrible Leicester team.

Other teams have had to deal with injuries too. Our coach needs to make sure players coming in can cope. Rutter is a big miss though.

Indeed.

I predicted a 2-1 win today, confident that a team that hasn't score a goal since the late 1970s would break their duck against us.
Oh dear...

Sadly that's my last game of the season. When I come round from the morphine later this month, it would be fitting if I'm singing
"Europe again, ole ole".
You can't jinx what's already f***ed. Apparently.

Baleba was excellent today, but we badly missed him in Midfield, particularly in the latter part of the game. Our injuries have killed us now, that performance was like a bunch of strangers at times. Good Teams are all about combination play and understanding; there was very little of that today. I hope Veltman and Mitoma are back to join JPvH on the team sheet on Sat, otherwise I fear the season is done.
Depressingly, I agree with all of this
