TEAM NEWS
Brighton forward João Pedro begins a three-game ban following his red card against Brentford and defender Jan Paul van Hecke is ruled out by concussion.
Head coach Fabian Hürzeler says Kaoru Mitoma is fit to start following a recent heel issue, while Joël Veltman and Tariq Lamptey are back in contention following lay-offs.
West Ham boss Graham Potter is hopeful Aaron Wan-Bissaka will return from a toe problem on Saturday but expects this match will come too soon for Edson Alvarez.
Michail Antonio and Crysencio Summerville are long-term absentees and Evan Ferguson is ineligible to face his parent club.
MATCH FACTS
Head-to-head
- Brighton lost 3-1 to West Ham at the Amex last season but that is their only defeat in the 15 Premier League matches between the clubs (W6, D8).
- The Hammers have taken five points from the last nine available against the Seagulls (W1, D2), just one fewer than in the first 12 Premier League meetings (D6, L6).
- The Seagulls are winless in their last six league and cup games, having won each of their previous six fixtures in all competitions.
- Brighton have lost three of their past four league outings, more defeats than in their previous 13 top-flight matches combined (W6, D5, L2).
- They have conceded at least two goals in each of their last five league games, their longest such run since a six-match sequence between February and March 2022.
- Danny Welbeck has scored six Premier League goals versus West Ham, more than against any other opponent.
- Welbeck is one shy of scoring 10 goals in a Premier League season for the first time. With 76 career goals in the competition, he's the league's highest scorer never to have reached double figures in a single campaign.
- The Hammers are winless in six games (D3, L3). They have not gone longer without a league victory since a seven-match streak ended in January 2023.
- They have the oldest starting line-up in this season's Premier League, with an average age of 28 years and 214 days.
- The Irons have yet to come from behind to win a Premier League fixture this season (D5, L15). Southampton and Ipswich are the only other sides without a comeback victory.
- All four of West Ham's away wins in the Premier League this season have been to nil – they have not won any of their last 15 on the road when conceding at least once (D5, L10).
- They have taken 13 points from 13 games under Graham Potter, with only the league's bottom three clubs faring worse since his appointment.
- Potter's only previous Premier League match against former side Brighton ended in a 4-1 defeat with Chelsea in October 2022.
