For some reason we owned a 'highly rated' Shark and Dyson at the same time. Until then we swore by Dyson's ... but the Shark kicked them into touch, far superior at dust collection. All that money we'd wasted on expensive Dyson's over the years!

We also own a Henry, stored in the garage, for clearing the mess from DIY/builders projects.

Previously we'd owned Sebo and Miele ... Mrs.W broke them  .

But which Shark model is the best and how does it compare to a Dyson v8?

This is what I need to know. 😀

Very timely thread as I also need a new vacuum. My Dyson v8 has lasted about 6 years and has been a good servant.

We've recently replaced our knackered Dyson with a Shark and also have a Henry in our garage for bigger 'jobs'. Spooky

A good robotic of course, unless you like VACUUMING?
Just got into one of these….my best friend who I live with bought one recently and I’m in charge of its routine ..does a good job…not sure it would suit the OP’S need re pet hairs.

daughters family have a golden Labrador and their shark hoover does a good job in dealing with its hair loss

For reasons that I cannot understand or explain I initially read this thread title as "Can anyone recommend a good beaver?"

My friends hoover just packed in it's about 10 years old, are Henry's still as good as they once were? Any others that should be considered?

One that's good with dog hair would be a bonus

Cheers

We recently moved from a bagged model to a battery-powered/cordless/stick one and it made a huge difference - mostly to our willingness to clean.

My recommendation is - whatever brand you get - get one that is cordless.

Henry for me. Just emptied the bag recently after 3 months use and the suction lifts the carpet.

I'm currently using a Samsung Jet Pro 90 cordless. It comes with a rotating floor cleaner accessory, fantastic for the kitchen and dinning room floors. I still have a Dyson cylinder, now 10 years old for deeper cleans, but its heavy compared to the cordless.

I've bought Samsung cordless Jet Pros for all my 3 children, as they live in flats or small houses where space is a premium. They love them.

Ah, for the dreams and untarnished, cynicism free view of the unbridled future at 18.

Did we know then that we'd spend our later years discussing the merits of vacuum cleaners on an internet forum?

Anyway, we've got a Henry thing.
