Funnily enough having taken on board that Orient were a bit of a Palace replacement for a few years, I now have a soft spot for the “we’ll never play you again” club![]()
I assume no one here hates Chesterfield anymore?

Yeah, I do, bent spire, bent clubI assume no one here hates Chesterfield anymore?
Coincidentally, Justin Edinburgh went on to manage Orient. He was there until he suddenly and sadly died very young a few years back.Funnily enough having taken on board that Orient were a bit of a Palace replacement for a few years, I now have a soft spot for the “we’ll never play you again” club![]()
Yeah, I do, bent spire, bent club
I do, crooked team like their spire….I assume no one here hates Chesterfield anymore?
It makes Swansea look like Harrogate. It was, and almost certainly is, as rough as a bears arse, did a funeral there about 30 years ago and took the coffin into church the night before, one of the lads I was working with down there, booked Mrs H and I into an Italian restaurant, with the caveat, go straight there and get a cab back to the hotel straight after!![]()
Although, as strange as it seems, Harrogate is not the blue rinse utopia many think it is. A Britain in Bloom award doth cover many weeds. It makes Swansea look like Harrogate.
One of my non Brighton fan mates is from there and got out as soon as he could. And I’ve got a mate from Cardiff who used to be in the Soul Crew who says “it’s full of f**king nutters”.
Brighton were 12 points ahead of Chesterfield, so their 10 point deduction made no difference although they cried that it did.Wasn’t that a brilliant moment, the points deduction? Effectively handing an honest club, us, the title.
Interesting recap.

Prison finally catches up with Chesterfield's crooked Spireite
David Conn lifts the lid on the gory, cautionary tale that led to Chesterfield chairman Darren Brown being sentenced to four years in prison.www.theguardian.com
Foul mouthed arse in a league cup game.Something to do with Justin Edinburgh I think. He was always a snidey twat going back to his playing days.
This is exactly how it should be. Keeping an incident from years and years ago locked away in the memory. Whether their grievance is real or merely perceived just doesn’t matter. The refusal to ‘let go’, leaving their resentment to simmer away……. That’s proper support. They are elite-level fans.Got chatting to a couple of Newport fans who seemed to have a serious hatred for us ever since that red card, saying it was deliberate and unnecessary.
How do we feel about Newport?
Are those two Newport fans a minority or does anyone know any Newport fans who think different?
My mate was Assistant Manager for Newport that night I believe.I think it's more Newport have an issue with us.
All stems from the Calderon sending off in the League Cup game in August 2013. Their player broke his ankle and they claim Calde went over the top etc, but the red card actually got overturned on appeal. It was a fifty/fifty challenge and I don't think Calde ever actually connected with their player, but rather the impact of them both connecting with the ball at the same time did the damage. The Newport players own fault for having weak ankles.
Edinburgh was a bit of a twat in the dug out that night, got a lot of abuse from Brighton fans sat in that area.
I was glad we equalled, end then eventually surpassed, their deduction.Brighton were 12 points ahead of Chesterfield, so their 10 point deduction made no difference although they cried that it did.
following the cup game with Crawley the level of justified vitriol on here towards that club will last for years. How many Albion fans who didn't give a toss about Crawley now look on with glee at their impending relegation. What should have been a great cup game between neighbours turned what should have been a great local derby into a game with levels of resentment and hatred of Palace proportions that will last for everThis is exactly how it should be.
