If he's going to sack someone, I think David Weir is living a more dangerous time than Fabian Hurzeler.

There's no algorithm in the world saying we've got good value out of our established (Wieffer, O'Riley, Ferdi, Dahoud, Igor, Fati, Milner) signings the last two years.
Why are you missing out the successful signings?

It is interesting to guess though. No doubt incredibly happy with the long term everything about the club. But a penny for his very analytical thoughts on this season, recruitment to come, on FH.

My guess … he’s pleased with FH and plans to provide a better squad come August.
Think you're going to need to pay a little more than that.

If Albion finish top twelve and sack their manager they will be the laughing stock of English football.
Like last year..?

I think he’ll be overall delighted. Heading for a 2nd or 3rd highest ever points total. Some capital value in Baleba, Bart, Van Hecke, Pedro. Some young talent like Hinshelwood progressing. New young manager finding his feet in English football. Books being well balanced.

We have signed a lot of good young talents who are generally doing well for us or could do well in the future.

The signings I mentioned - the established and generally older (Fati aside, but he was certainly established) ones - haven't worked out. Or do you have any examples of established players that we've brought in in the 2 last years with any amount of success? Not ruling out that I could have missed one or two.

Do you think Hinshelwood is progressing? I’m not to sure he played better and looked more assured last season at right back fill in.

I’d say no. I don’t mean that in some kind of “wielding a giant axe and sacking everyone” kind of way, more a general, this could be going better kind of way.

I’d think he’d hope by now that we had a bit of a clearer style and that we’d settle into a clearer first 11 (not that it’s the fault of anything but injuries for that). I think he’d also probably have hoped that some of the players and the manager, might have developed a bit more than they have.
You mean he might have thought that £200M last summer would have a very positive effect? Yes, I reckon he'd have hoped that too.

Still, overall I reckon he's happy - he has a good life, family, plenty of money, some decent horses - and a top ten (just about, hopefully) football team.

Joäo Pedro.
Yeah I was contemplating on counting him or not. He was certainly more established than many other signings but still, he played for goddamn Watford in the Championship after a failed PL season...

But fair enough, we can count JP and he's been quite successful.

RDZ didn't leave because of performances and results. That is abundantly clear. There was a lot going on. He wasn't sacked anyway. Can't have been as the Albion got compensation.

It is abundantly clear to you perhaps. Personally I don't think Tony was impressed with us picking 33 points from the last 32 games. As for the semantics, ok, fine, he wasn't sacked - very very few managers get sacked if we look at that way - but he was essentially told to go f*** himself and look for a new job because we didn't want him back.

The point is, under some circumstances it is perfectly possible for us to get rid of a manager despite finishing top 12. It won't happen to Fabian Hurzeler this season though.

Pedro has been one of our best signings in the past few years.

One season in EPL and one in Championship IS an established player at the age of 21. Watford were also mid-table Premier League in 2018-19, Premier League side in 2017-18, PL side in 2016-17, PL side in 2015-16, so hardly a ‘one season’ failed PL Club as you suggest at least not in the past decade.

You challenged us to name at least one or 2 established players in the past two years that have been successful for us.

Move the goalposts all you like but Pedro fits your own original criteria!

I'm not in the know at all. However, I did hear pre season that TB had gone LARGE on us for Champ's league qualification. This was 3rd hand information, so who knows if true.
I'm sure he re-couped his losses with that 100-1 winner at Cheltenham though!
If he was going large on Champs League then he needs to check his algorithm.
