I hate to stick up for Trump but didn't he actually say something about a shared cultural and political heritage dating back to ancient Rome.

He did of course once actually say there were airports during the Revolutionary War

If the British had been coming on F15s, there might have been a different outcome

I had the same problem trying to explain to LasVegan that Trump's tariffs would increase the costs for American consumers - but he couldn't grasp it either.

As economics go, the concept isn't particularly difficult.
