There are two facets to this which, again, serve to illustrate just how appalling Trump is:

1. Jerome Powell, the current chair of the Federal Reserve, was appointed by Donald Trump himself.
2. The chair of the Federal Reserve does not control interest rates. Similarly to the UK, they are set by committee.
Mr Powell clearly being lined up by President Pumpkin as the main scapegoat for his knacking of the US economy. Looking forward to seeing Joe Rogan or similar being appointed new chair of Federal Reserve shortly.

Maybe he would put MTG in that position and forget he needs her in the House of Reps. The Fed would be screwed up for good but it might leave an opening for putting through some legislation that would save the US some misery.

Until they lose their job or notice their 401(k) has plummeted.
Nope. Even as their house is repossessed, their kids miss out on college, and they start queuing at the homeless shelter, they’ll still be crowing about ‘owning the Libs’.

'Totally unacceptable': GOP congressman breaks ranks to publicly demand Trump fire Hegseth

In a rare moment of disunity among House Republicans, Politico reports GOP Rep. Bacon (R-Neb.) advised President Donald Trump to fire U.S. Sec. of Defense Pete Hegseth, saying the resulting chain of chaos is why Republicans were leery of approving him in the first place.

“If it’s true that he had another [Signal] chat with his family, about the missions against the Houthis, it’s totally unacceptable,” said Bacon, a lead Republican on the House Armed Services Committee. “I’m not in the White House, and I’m not going to tell the White House how to manage this … but I find it unacceptable, and I wouldn’t tolerate it if I was in charge.”

We may laugh, but I have seen photos of Trump supporters with Trump is God (capital G) which should ring alarm bells with the Bible belt who seem to support him.
At any other time in history, that would be considered blasphemy.
There’s a lot of overlap in that venn diagram.

But it’s apt in its own way. MAGA is a political personality cult with Trump as its all-powerful deity. They’re conditioned to suspend rational thinking and view any external contradiction or criticism as an existential threat.

I have an old friend from school, that I have known for more than 60 years, who settled in the USA back in the early’70’s. He got religion in a big, big way and is what I would call a fanatic. He is also a very staunch Trump supporter and can see no wrong in the man or his ruinous policies. There is absolutely no reasoning with my old friend and so it is with all the others of his ilk.
We have absolutely nothing in common now and I should really call him a former friend.
I don't see any way he can call himself a Christian when the man he supports is as far away from Christian behaviour as it is possible to get.

Strangely enough, Pope Francis spoke out about idolatry in 2013, which could apply.

"The worship of the ancient golden calf has returned in a new and ruthless guise in the idolatry of money and the dictatorship of an impersonal economy lacking a truly human purpose" - opposition to economic inequality spelled out in 2013 Apostolic Exhortation.

I think you'll struggle to describe it as a venn diagram. It's just a circle

“Some solar equipment exporters in Cambodia face the highest duties of 3,521% because of what was seen as a lack of cooperation with the Commerce Department investigation.”

3521% tariff

Just seen a Trump interview with CBN on X (so no idea if fake or not) in which he says “Nobody has done more for Christianity and other religions than me”!
In fairness, there’s a lot of people who shout out “Jesus Christ” whenever Trump opens his mouth.

One edit required … not “left wing”, instead anyone with a conscience and heart.

I seem to recall someone comparing the Rwanda policy to the El Salvador policy.

Surprise...

Shame on you UK
Whilst the volume of sales increased slightly, Tesla’s share of the EV market fell from 14% to 10%. I was intending to buy one but went for another manufacturer instead and I’m aware that @Goldstone1976 has swapped his. Neither of us are left wing though, plenty on the centre and centre right dislike Nazi sympathisers and apologists.

The USA might have stopped illegally bombing Cambodia years ago but now they just seek to suppress a poor population via economic warfare. Shameful.
