[Albion] Fab IN

If NSC is going to give air to the Fab out thread, then I think our young manager in his first season deserves a Fab IN thread.
He's had to do a lot of juggling with the number of injuries the squad have suffered.

It was a great point at Villa with a real fighting spirit in evidence, with the players pushing for a winner until the end.
He's doing a good job after only half a season in a new country and in a new league.
Arse lick…we are allowed to be critical at times 😉

There IS a Fab IN thread - it is Fab’s official Singed thread as the players have - But people stopped posting on it;☹️

The trolls were not happy for it to continue and any positive post match comments about him were largely ignored

He’s currently being dealt a shit hand with the injuries. At various times Veltman, Dunk, Pervis, Weiffer, Hinshelwood, Kadioglu, Welbeck, Ferguson, Webster, Milner, O’riley, Pedro, March, Gruda and probably others have all been out injured. He’s barely been able to field a full strength team.

Constantly having players out, being forced to change formations & tactics, meaning no consistency. That makes things so much harder as a manager.

It’s a funny old game:
2-2 v Leicester….Fab out
2-2 v Villa ……Fab in
Very different games, same outcome
I’m sure you will agree that the contrast between these games is chalk and cheese…
Being 2-0 up with 5 minutes to go against a team that may get relegated and then drawing is very different to being 2-1 down to a Champions league team with 10 minutes to go.
i understand your thinking but these aren’t comparable games as youve recognised.
I’m not in the Fab out camp btw just to clarify. He hasn’t won me over yet though either 😁

I agree. As I said, two very different games. That’s what’s great about football - get the same points outcome from 2 matches and yet feel emotionally very different about them.

Fair enough to start this thread for balance - good. I've never gone 'Hurzeler out' - but I'm not going to go wildly 'Hurzeler in' either. I'm just not sure yet - hopeful, not hostile, but not completely sold either. I guess that's 'fence' then.
Then that means you are saying he's in for now, but he needs to prove himself.

Which I think is where most rational people are. Hopeful but not fully convinced as yet.

It's far too soon to be anything but that.

But if you're not calling for his head, then that's Fab in. So welcome 🤗

Yep, he’s in until he’s out but has a lot to improve.

No surprise to anyone that I’m firmly Fab IN, and I’m encouraged by the performance today.

For me, you can’t seriously claim to be “in Tony we trust” unless you give his managerial appointments time to learn and improve, in the same way that we accept the latest 19yo prospect we’ve signed may not be first team ready, but is likely to develop over time.

If Fab reaches a third season in charge and is still getting schooled on a regular basis, then my patience will wear thin, but we fought tonight and in my mind I’m still convinced that Fab and his players will learn lessons and progress.

Good work lads, keep moving forwards.

Sad so sad . Name calling just because people have a different view to yours shock horror on a FORUM !!!!!!!!
🤣 anyone would think the fella is smashing up the league 7 without a win and counting.
Better tonight granted although is that high praise worthy?
The second Villa goal jeez basic stuff Morgan was on his own one simple ball from Watkins.
We aren’t very well drilled or organised IMO.

Tonight was a game we probably should have lost so the buzz is going to be relatively good, at least until Arsenal. I still can’t see a very clear imprint on the team by FH yet. It may come but the progress I’d like to see over the next few months is greater confidence in possession similar to our best recent seasons and better game management (in which keeping the ball and better passing is vital). The club have given him greater attacking firepower so we can still hurt teams and get results, regardless of whether he excells or not. But it all looks a bit too messy and haphazard at the moment. The coming months will be interesting and reveal his potential. I’m saving my overall judgement til then. I just find him too much of a puzzle at the moment

Well we managed to get a point despite four players performing at Championship/League One level tonight, so clearly something was done well tactically.

This is where I’m at. I don’t have much faith in him tactically but I’m trying to be open minded.

All of the games that are being held up as evidence that he’s progressing are either games I’ve missed (Spurs at home) or away games, of which I’ve been to zero this season. Many of our home games, which is what many fans will be judging him on, have been a complete mess, with some periods of dominance, and then him failing to adapt to a slight tweak from the opposition manager to allow us to see out games successfully or comfortably - Wolves, Ipswich, Brentford, Palace (where we was dominated tactically the whole game), Southampton. Even the wins against Utd and City felt like they were in spite of him, not because of him - Utd missed some exceptional chances to take the lead and got in their own way of the disallowed goal, and Pep decided to give up the midfield after they opened the scoring, before FH brought on our best players to turn the game around and dominate that area that City had previously been in total control of.

It just feels to me like a better manager would have us pushing for the top 4 already, with the resources he has available.

But, like yourself I imagine, I want the guy to succeed as he’s our manager, and his success is good for our club.
