Flat Intercom System no longer remotely able to open front door.

Why not attach a really long piece of string to the door and when someone comes in you pull on the string and then attach plastic cups to either end of said string to act as the intercom system?

There should be two wires to the lock. One is the 24v and the other is the 0v.

Is this it?

This is the lock to show what I meant about being able to get out if there was a power cut it wouldn't effect it. Only buzzing someone in.

The lock is in the closed position obviously.
First you need to check the voltages at the transformer. If it's all good then remove the latch and check you're getting the correct voltage there. If that's correct, the latch has seized shut.
You can get these cheap. Any locksmith shop sells them. Should be no more than £20
