The penultimate BHASC Social this season is being held at, a new venue for us, Saltdean Lido at 7.30pm on Wednesday April 23rd

Our very special guest speaker is former Albion skipper and Brighton's Loans Manager, Gordon Greer.
A rare opportunity to learn how the Albion decide on loans, and how they manage our players playing with clubs in the UK and all over Europe.

This event is free to BHASC members.

You can join the Supporters club using this link. https://bhasc.com/wp/membership/

It only costs £5 for a year. Joining today you get the rest of this season and the whole of 2025/26.

As if GG wasn't a big enough draw, now we have Dan Tester bringing a pile of his books which he will be on hand to sign (sell) before the evening gets underway.

and "on this day" (April 23rd) there were six really notable events in the Albion's history.

We're looking forward to a really good evening.

Interesting person and subject. Surely you would have got a full house in an Amex lounge. Charging non supporter members

Firstly BHASC can't afford an Amex Lounge.
As mentioned above we're non profit, but we welcome new members to join us for just a fiver.

This season and last we've held these evenings all over the county and had guest speakers including Dean Cox, Kieran Maguire and Spencer Vignes. Last season; Calde, Howard Webb, Johnny Cantor and Warren Aspinall amongst others.
Next season we're hoping to hold one in The Terrace - watch this space

So what were his insights?
From memory

Kamari Doyle one to watch.
Enjoyed playing for Gus the most.
Felt Hyypia got dealt a difficult hand with some of the replacements signings
Still in touch with a number of ex players, Danny Holla attending Saturday.
Felt sorry for Rushworth, but he has reacted well.
Got an inkling McGill was about to be dropped/replaced by MK hence recall.
RvN had given assurances Buononotte well regarded and in his plans.
Dunk definitely fit, but not match fit in his opinion. Difficult post tournament football, when you miss preseason and then pick up niggling injuries, anticipate him coming back strongly next year.
Enjoy’s role, but felt like looking to progress.
Evan left to play football, disappointed it hasn’t worked out.
Offiah has done well, but Fabs choice ultimately
Stops loan players getting ‘over-confident’, by constantly reviewing goals and increasing objectives.

I’ve probably missed lots, but a snapshot.

Edit - loves NSC, reads it a lot….. and uses a lot of the information when scouting

:lolol:

In that case there is at least one mid 40s englishman, brighton born and bred, currently living in Tokyo who has somehow slipped the scouting net but is definitely still good enough to play for the Albion. Any position. Relatively low wages too.

Skillful, pacy, great passer, incredible vision, beautiful first touch, game changer, two footed, reads the game easier than most people read books, thunderous tackler yet has never given away a freekick.*

*These are all ways to describe a player. Not necessarily me...

That was a loan move that did surprise me. I thought Offiah looked decent last season when he came on and not totally out of place in the PL. He had plenty of pace - maybe not as much as his uncle - but looked pretty nifty. And we certainly could do with pace at the back
