I think this has been the least enjoyable season since we have been in the prem. Two lame cup exits. A season when a European place was there for the taking and we won’t get one. So overall not enjoyable. Clearly we have been hampered by injuries. We have to pray palace don’t win the cup as that would be absolutely horrendous.

I think the Club has lost it's way a bit, if I'm honest. You see it in our recruitment, our loan business and above all in the strangely random team selections. You certainly see it in match performances.

We are still punching above our weight, but not to the extent we were under peak Potter and RDZ. We have gone off the boil.

Compare and contrast with Villa today, not just the performance and result, but the players' visible excitement and bond with the crowd. We'd like to be finishing the season like that, wouldn't we?
Agree with some of this, but the Villa comparison is unfair.

They are gambling on UCL qualification.
If they don't make it they will have poiints deducted.

We aren't going to play that game, nor should we.

Forest, Fulham and Bournemouth are equally pushing PSR to it's limits to stay competitive in the division.

Brentford, Palace and ourselves are the only teams managing to compete within a realistic budget.

North Stand Chat has always been a bit of a binfest. But nonetheless, when did so many of our fans become such whingy cry babies?
Apparently one's club doesn't need to achieve much (in fact, anything) to confer on some enormous entitlement,
if one happens to be enormously vulnerable to acquiring unjustified entitlement.

Meanwhile, others count their blessings.
I sometimes count my fingers just to be sure they are all still there.

I'm really glad I did Newcastle away in the cup and despite being barely able to walk dragged my arse to Man Utd away. Both of those were great fun as was Everton first game.

But there has been plenty of unenjoyable drek thrown in this season none moreso than the Palace games. If - like 2 seasons ago - the dog shit is countered by achieving an overall goal like Europe it quickly becomes forgotten. If we do somehow achieve Europe (yeah, I know) it'll be interesting how this season is viewed.

You enjoyed Hughton's swan song season?

I was leaving home matches at 80, 70 and even 65 minutes towards the end.

The results were shit and we didn't even look like there was any chance of anything different happening anytime. Let alone soon.

I recommend reading up on recency bias.

2018/19 was far worse and the season the pandemic stopped a potential relegation.

Most of our fanbase will be happy because they’re not winners. Our mindset is all wrong IMO.

What we need is a few more United, Chelsea, Spurs and Leeds fans switching to supporting us in the hope of glory. That would improve our fanbase and make our mindset more whiners, err ... winners

Personally went no. Two good patches doesn’t paper over poor, boring football, bad home record, a 7-0, two 4-2s and Palace doing the double. It’s the least I’ve enjoyed it since the return from Covid.
This.

I liked the latter Potter and RdZ era (end apart), at the moment the last four performances are worse than anything under RdZ, mainly because there is no shape or discipline in how we play.

I’ve pretty much hated all of this season. I’ve had ST’s at all four grounds but I’ve given it up for next season. It’s not a football club in the way we’ve always known it, more of a money hungry tourist attraction.
Our participation in a pretty hateful league is bad enough, couple that with the treatment of some of our most loyal fans and I just can’t let myself get wound up by it any more. Getting annoyed by a millionaires half arsed performance while he couldn’t care less is not healthy.
I realise we are probably one of the most ethical clubs in the PL which speaks volumes for the absolute dregs we’re rubbing shoulders with. I’m really not the clubs target audience so I’ll make way for an Amex card holding tourist that will leave with armfuls of tat from the club shop.
Sorry for being a ‘miserable twat’.

Meh for me. Promised more but we have been hampered by the worst injury record of clubs in the EPL this season. Hopefully Hurzeler will learn and improve for next year!

Nearly 80% of you are miserable twats. 8 years in a row in the premier league. On course for a 3rd top 10 finish in a row. If this year is bad - I'm surprised you haven't topped yourselves over the rest of our history.

Cheer up you miserable lot. (I only want the keeper gone & then I'll be happy)
If only Jack Kevorkian were alive today he could curate his own 'will to live' thread'.

(note, last time I made a facetious comment like this someone accused me of suggesting they kill themself.
I am more than happy to facetime to explain the intention of facetiousness and withering disdain, if anyone needs it).

The downs have been pretty bad this season, the highs have been OK but, like early Potter, this side to side football is my least favourite - I find it soul destroying. We make a simple game incredibly complicated.

Lots of highs .. Everton, Newcastle, Man U and Man City away. Plus Spurs and Man City at home. Followed by crushing lows like Wolves, Leicester etc. On the other hand, huge chunks of the Potter era felt like being drip-fed just enough nutrients to keep you alive. Not sure what's worse. Think it was Potter tbh

Simple question. We’re currently 10th, got to the quarterfinals of the FA Cup and, apparently, we once ground shared with Gillingham.

So have you enjoyed the ride? Been a bit m’eh? Or endured it?
Gillingham is absolutely nothing to do with the current season. I love the way that so manty supporters say they were at Gillingham and at Hereford. that is condemned to the history books. As for the here and now, we've had a crap season, in my opinion the signings we made in the summer, have not worked out and ,for me, I'm yet to be convinced about the manager.

A season lasts 9 months, which technically is 3 astronomical seasons in length and moreover August to May actually intersects all 4 seasons, but I digress…

Given that the football season is a long event (or series of events, games or matches if you will) and has provided enough entertainment to exceed the disappointments of recent weeks, it has in my opinion and in the main been more enjoyable than not.
