I hate palace and love the rivalry BUT this year it just didn’t interest me. So weird, maybe it’s Christmas time, the Sunday time ? Not sure.
In fact… you know what? Balls to it!Makes perfect sense. The aggro and the potential pain of defeat all make it a game to dread but the payoff when it all comes together? That 4-1 earlier this year was joyous.
Do you get wound up for the Utd v Citeh derby though?I wasn’t here in the 70s and have no interest in some ancient shouting match between Mullery and Venables. I respect the fact that it means a lot to the old-timers on here, and to some of the younger Brighton fans I know who seem to have inherited the emotions. I don’t deride that but honestly, it’s just another match to me. I’m desperate to win it just as I was desperate to win at Fulham and Leicester last week. It’s all about the three points, and that’s it. Mind you, when I’m at the game I know I’ll be wound up by the taunts of the Palace fans if we’re not ahead as I sit closer to the south than the north. So a couple of early goals please to keep them quiet.
No. (Curious question.)Do you get wound up for the Utd v Citeh derby though?
i'm surprised its not more. Hassle of trains, add Sunday, Add in two pm ko, add in delays inevitable, add in its Palace and not everyone wants a punch up, add in disruption to Sunday lunch, its near Xmas, money for some will be tight, its on TV, we clearly have fair weather fans and some will also be p1ssed off with the way we give games away to poor sides, im sure though the majority of those unsold will get sold, there's still time. Also add in for West Hamlet or Rottenham Coldspurs etc we will have locals that get in the home areas but doubtful any Palace live locally so that will keep a few hundred down in the normal attendanceAll things being equal, ie setting aside "awkward" kick-off times / holiday season etc, is Palace the least attractive / least in-demand game of the season?
I ask having checked the ticketing site and, only adding up very roughly, there are in excess of 1,500 tickets available to buy on the ticket exchange.
Is the supposed hassle factor just so great that a load of people just can't be arsed?
I thought you supported someone else given Palace is “just another fixture”?No. (Curious question.)
To me, yes. To others, no. I explained it, I thought. I don’t have any interest in the Mullery-Venables thing.I thought you supported someone else given Palace is “just another fixture”?
Lots of families with young kids choose to miss this match. All things being equal, ie setting aside "awkward" kick-off times / holiday season etc, is Palace the least attractive / least in-demand game of the season?

100% this. It has to be by far the worst away facilities in the premier league. When (and if obviously) they build the new stand that will just increase the contrast between what is provided for home and away fans. They are taking the piss, quite literally, with the toilets in the arthur wait.I tolerate the home game - it's fun if we win - but it's off my list for away trips. Can't be bothered with all the hassle that surrounds it to attend a ground where you can't even see large parts of the pitch.
