Tell you what let’s vote against fa cup replays because our players have had to play too many games this season and they can’t possibly play any more, poor things.

Tell you what, they are fit enough to fly to the far side of the world so let’s do that and play two meaningless games out there so we can sell some more merchandise that hasn’t been made yet.

at least we are giving them a bit of a rest, Spuds v Toon was yesterday in Melbourne

For what its worth, I dont think the games are necessarily meaningless at that time, they would be playing friendlies regardless to get match fit, learn the new system etc. so from a footballing point of view it can be seen as a part of training, pre season build up ,playing against unkown opposition . yesterdays match in Melboune had no football advantages whatsoever, and can you imagine if one of the players managed to do a hamstring or something!

While we have Mitoma, Japan is a huge potential market and selling merch can be very lucrative, I dont have an issue with that , if we want to continue to compete at the top, we need to maximise revenues- it may be a bit distasteful, but its the real world, we simply have to grow our income, and this is one way of doing that. It also provides value for our sponsors, and again it helps maximise revenue from them.

There is a massive argument regarding flying half way round the world from an enviromental point of view, which is a whole different question, as is the binning replays (disgusting decision IMO)

I see this as an opportunity for a business trip. You should ask your boss if you can go over to meet with the local train company to see how to properly run a rail network.

I have been a Brighton fan over 45 years live in Brisbane can get flights and accommodation for under 1000 pounds. It's not just the Japanese It's fans like me who get a chance to see the team they love not just live but at a time that's ok , you try getting up at 4am then going to work after a shit game been doing that over 25 years since leaving Worthing.

Not sure it would make a difference, really. Japanese fans would presumably be upset if he didn't play even if he didn't feature prominently in the promo materials.

I'm in Kyoto at the moment looking after a tour group.
It's hot, it's good value (weak Yen), many hotels don't seem to have bars, It's crazily busy with people, it's efficient, the train system is superb, it's very different to what we are used to.

Last week one of my group lost his i-phone with credit cards, driving licence and cash in. Probably at a park bench during a lunch stop in downtown Tokyo. After going back to look for it we went to the local police station nearest to our hotel to file a report.
The police took my mobile number and called 30 minutes later to tell us it had been handed in and we could go and collect it.

Does anyone actually care enough about friendlies to be upset they can't see them? Its a great opportunity to expand our reach, and give an opportunity for fans around the world to see us, without giving up a competitive game. Unlike the US we are actually playing local sides as well as opposed to other PL teams, like in the US, which was odd. After travelling round Europe as well for some very lucky fans its another opportunity to combine travelling and watching the Albion. However I do begrudingly miss the annual piss up at Lewes/Whitehawk/Burgess Hill/Worthing on a sunny saturday.

Like you, the trips to Lewes, Worthing etc were a nice social event but the Amex friendlies have become less glamourous over the years and that is reflected in the attendances. However, for those who are not able to afford season tickets or even game by game pricing and/or those with kids who want to take them to a game, I can see why they want home friendlies still

Yes I can see that to an extent, but I think rather than pre season trips, this issue should be directed at the club for their high pricing of match by match tickets. I don't think any football game should have a £52 minimum price but thats what it is for CAT A.
