There's a Yakiniku (Korean barbecued meet) chain in Japan that specialises in offal. They have a helpful English menu that is translated literally without any of the eupemisms we use in English for various bits of animals.
Pig's rectum anyone?

Mrs Q said I was gross. It was very tasty. I’ll try any local food but what is the opinion on NSC on certain local delicacies ?
Had octopus last night and that is pretty tasteless.
Monkeys brains Morocco 4/10 hard to get in/down did it for a bet. (n)
Butterflied BBQ Junglefrog Thailand 8/10 a curious crossover of chicken/rabbit/fish flavour/texture with the usual outstanding Thai seasoning . (y)
Goats head soup Algeria 6 /10. Surprisingly good once you get past the eyes and teeth. (y)
Deep fried, large insects of different types Thailand 7/10 decent snack with a beer. (y)
Sat round a fire camp fire in Zambia with the locals , they were eating cat and rat , I had a bit , tasted odd , asked what it was ......stopped eating it, they laughed , next morning they were having crocodile eggs for breakfast which were surprisingly tasty as was the meat . croc (y) rat (n)
We did a hungi in NZ which one of the guys turned up with a whole sheep just skinned and gutted , wrapped up in Kauri branches and wet sacks and cooked for about 6 hours ...........amazing.(y)
Eaten loads of weird shit in Asia and Africa , street food that you wouldn't know what was in it , never had any issues ....was in Phuket for NY and was pigging out crispy ,fried squid egg sacks which are bloody lovely with the ink sauce but must of had a bad one and I doubt I will eat them again after projecting from both ends for over 24 hrs and ending up on an antibiotic drip in my room for a day .......my stomachs way of telling me to get f***ed , lost 3 kilos though

I have to confess that your choice of meal wouldn’t be at the top of my menu selection. Did it taste better than it looks? I have however eaten Duck hearts before in SW France as they eat every part of the bird which sounds disgusting but was very rich and tasty.

I had a lovely duck heart salad in Toulouse a few years ago. I eat a lot chicken hearts too; cheap and tasty

Just back from a business trip to Tokyo. Went to a back alley yakitori in Shinjuku one night that did, among many other things, horse sashimi. I told the guys not to bother with it as it was just basically a chewy beef carpaccio they did mainly for the tourists and I knew this because it was a “dare food” when I lived there many years ago. However, I did order myself some pig and chicken heart skewers and crispy fried pig head and all were delicious.

The best thing we had though was this lunch, which is the best thing I’ve eaten since I was last in Asia

So I’m with @Questions and @Herr Tubthumper . Forty years ago raw fish was considered weird here, now it’s on every supermarket shelf. If the locals are eating something it’s not to make themselves ill or because they hate it - it’s because it’s good.

And it’s this attitude that finally earned me an honourable tied first place in my long running eating dare competition with a Pslace fan when we both decked a shot of snake bile in local firewater in Taipei’s snake alley and shook hands on a draw.

Had a few delicacies whilst travelling - became a bit of a thing at work for my lot to try to freak me out with local food. They never did 🤣
Crickets in Mexico (several times, as they’re delicious, particularly with guacamole in a tortilla, or as a beer snack)
Mezcal with a worm (Mexico)
Frog porridge (Singapore)
Sheep head stew and sheep’s foot (Saudi Arabia)
Fish eye (Japan)
Wok-fried frogs (China)
Elvers (Spain)
A whole fish head (Malaysia)
Century Egg, Sea slug and cow’s stomach plus a few other ‘specials’ (Hong Kong)
Durian (Singapore)

Worthing
When I was a kid, my Mum was a bit old school when it came to food, and what we ate.
Tripe and onions were a regular dinner for us as it was my Dads favourite.
Sweetbreads (Lamb and calves thyroid gland and pancreas gland) wasn’t an unusual meal in our house,
When money was tight, as it often was, bringing up 6 kids on a farmhands wages was tough, we would have Ox heart for Sunday Roast, plonked on the table and my Dad would carve it.
Brawn, homemade from pigs head, was a treat, and thomecooked tongue was a Christmas tea staple.

When my daughter was tricked into trying tongue, she loved it, until she was told what it was, she has never stopped telling us how awful it was since.😂😂😂

Kids today, eh?
