As in my earlier posts, I will try anything in the way of food.

But, I will be completely honest here, I did draw the line at Balut.
It’s a Phillipino ‘delicacy’ where a fertilised egg with a partially developed chick is steamed or boiled and eaten straight from the shell.

I was offered it in Olongapo City, where I m afraid, for about the only time in my life, I refused to eat something new.

I think I would prefer celery.
I had a similar experience and very much declined.

Callos is a lovely Spanish tripe based dish as well.

A couple of years ago, I bought my girlfriend a book on the rise and fall of tripe in the UK (who said romance is dead?)

A Manchester-based Spanish chef in the 70s is quoted as saying "English style tripe is like a woman who's just got out of bed in the morning. Spanish tripe is after she has done her hair and makeup". A tad sexist perhaps but it's a decent analogy. Callos is one of my favourite Spanish dishes.

They have a similar thing in Vietnam, where I lived for years. Never did try it although I'm generally an adventurous eater. Swerved dog meat as well.

Mrs Q said I was gross. It was very tasty. I’ll try any local food but what is the opinion on NSC on certain local delicacies ?
Had octopus last night and that is pretty tasteless.
I bought octopus at the local fishmarket snd cooked and ate it on Wednesday. It is best boiled till soft then chopped up and chargrilled for a few minutes with salt, pepper and olive oil.
I enjoy eating cow's stomach (tripe) snd lungs. I have also eaten cow's cheek(delicious) and cow's tongue(tough as old boots) I prefer lamb's liver and kidneys to cow but enjoy both.
I've eaten live whitebait and cold seaslug in Japan, live baby octopus in Korea, chicken's feet and gizzard in South Africa.
I eat anything, me🤣🤣🤣🤣

Octopus needs to be boiled for 30 minutes to get it tender, it's what u do with it after to get the taste
I put it in cold water, bring to the boil and simmer for 40 to 50 minutes until its lovely and tender. I usually just cut it up and eat it at that point rather than chargrilling but if you want it crispy on the outside then chargrill for a few minutes.

A man of good taste, I see. I'm a big fan of all of the above too, though I've not tried the live seafood you mentioned.

Tongue is like octopus though. If cooked right, it's very tender

Why do people always say “oh I love, I don’t know, rhino bellend, it tastes like chicken”. Why not just eat chicken?
