Launched 30 years ago, Loaded magazine epitomised the 90s in its irreverence and appetite for hedonism. But how did it stand up to pressure to put more 'sexy babes' on the cover?

Anyone else watch this? I'm not usually one to wallow in nostalia, but this 'took me back', as they say.

I watched this last night. Really well worth it. It starts off all fun and games, but surprisingly turned very dark with how it all turned out for pretty much everyone involved. It was a real eye opener

Not exactly earth shattering news, everyone apart from Take That got ripped off, and if you believe the social media allegations from Brian Harvey, who clearly has some issues, there was also some sexual abuse thrown in

My memory was that they stuck Liz Hurley on the cover of the first one in not an awful lot and the rest was history. That not to say my memory is correct from 30 ish years ago though. Did they cover that in the program?

I definitely missed referencing drugs. First publication that acknowledged the existence

They mention the Liz Hurley one actually, but it’s interesting how little it talked about women initially. Most of them are a mess now, it’s quite sad really

The standard of feature writing in those early editions was very good.

I remember thumbing a lad mag in the barbers's and raising an eyebrow when reading an anecdote about a spit-roasting episode that got messy.

Back in the 70s the barber* at the top of Sackville road had copies of Penthouse and Mayfair. The stories were less graphic, but the pictures were unequivocal.

*Edit: Mr Porter. Was there for ages. Looked a bit like Alan Cork. I googled the shop and it appears to have been demolished along with its neighbours.
