May be controversial but - such an underwhelming, disappointing player. Really shows the gulf in class to the SPL
It's a shame other players‘ progress was potentially halted due to this signing imo

Not sure if he’s playing within himself due to the injuries with us so far? But agree, looks very lightweight currently. Out of possession game is really poor with opposition players ghosting past him too easily without a challenge.
Wasn’t particularly impressed with him on the ball either today (crosses hitting WH players, over hit corners). Maybe a bit harsh as there were some good bits - and I want him to come good like all our signings, but Rutter keeps him out the team all day long (and I reckon Buonanotte would add more based on his trajectory last season).

Maybe with a full pre season...etc. we might get a player.
But from what I've seen this season, Rutter is nailed on for the 10 role. He has the pace, physicality and ability to drive through the centre that O'Riley completely lacks.
Nothing signing and wouldn't be surprised or disappointed if he was moved on in the summer.

Going to go against the general grain here, but he’s not quite what I expected unfortunately. He created very little in his preferred position of number 10 today. He needs to up his levels; exceptional at Celtic is nothing in the Premier League as we’ve seen time after time.
I don't get what he is meant to do...

He has been by far the most underwhelming of the summer signings. Had plenty of opportunities and shown next to nothing, aside from the odd decent game here or there. At least Enciso would keep himself busy, you’d always know he was there. O’Riley just seems a bit all-fur-coat-no-knickers and goes missing far, far too often. Give him next season to prove his worth, simply because we spent so much, but if we’re still in the same position come 2026 then it’s time to go.

Reading the posts from today, that's not going against the grain at all!
Too early to tell, IMO. The injury obviously didn't help - let's see what happens after a pre-season. One thing I would add is that his corners were decent (I think!).
Huge disagree, Ferdi “ow my toe is hurty, I’m going to sit in the physio’s room for 8 months” Kadıoğlu is way less impressive.

Questionable but could I point out that Wieffer does much the same! Brighton and Hove Albion ' Ministry of Silly Runs '. At least Mark Gall had the excuse of having one leg considerably shorter than the other !…….are you allowed to use that phrase nowadays

Agree I can’t quite understand how a broken toe has transpired into a season-ending injury, but IMO he showed more in his brief stint of availability than MOR has across the entirely season.
We’re between the devil and the deep blue sea trying to pick ‘the best’ one of our summer signings though, none of them have been that impressive. I’d argue Georginio is the only one where I can go ‘yep, I can guarantee this guy will be a very good player for us eventually’. I’m sure he’ll give them all time, but I don’t think TB will be too happy with how his investment has turned out so far, and why would he be? Not that I think that’s any reflection on the manager.

Good post, kind of where I am.
Getting better, but his off the ball work is not the best, and yesterday just seemed to lack enough confidence to shoot, and was keener to ‘pass’. Hopefully, he’ll improve and the games are helping.
Hoping with a good preseason he’ll kick on.
My preference though, would also be Buononotte.
Good point re leadership, but out of possession I would argue he’s a bit naive in the positions he takes up, which actually have little impact on the opponents options.

I agree and I hope he will be better next season. I think he is a very forward thinking player and takes excellent positions with good link-play.

I do think there’s a player in there, but I don’t particularly think the system suits him and I think he’s always going to look worse that Georgino, unfortunately.
He’s not great at driving us up the pitch, nor in tight spaces, and he doesn’t look great defensively, either in terms of his physicality or his positioning.
But every time I see him he creates chances and spots passes, and his movement offensively is very good. He also looks like he’ll go on a run of scoring once he gets that first one.
I don’t think he’s the worst of our summer signings, but I certainly don’t think he’s shone either, not when compared to the other players we have in his position.
