Evidently the A27 roadworks put a lot off using today as it was hardly half full, just getting into D.

Arrived later than usual from west completely unaware there were any roadworks until hit one lane section half a mile from turn off. The extra time getting through roadworks in car and P&R bus was more than compensated by low traffic at A27/A23 junction when arriving, and ease of getting bus after the match despite staying to end, and exiting MR.

Can we keep roadworks please.

We do over react to a little bit of roadworks. The A27 work adds no more than 15 mins to the journey (with a little bit of prep).
Added almost an hour to my journey, each way, when we drove to the previous game.

At least an hour after the final whistle the A27 West bound outside the Amex was very busy, also the slip road heading towards Lewes Rd / Coldean Lane was at a standstill.

I guess I got lucky and only hit short delays from Patcham

Agreed, also seems to mean the Hollingbury slip road is basically deserted so actually probably a touch less than that.

We drove back along the 27 towards Lewes after the game, the Westbound traffic was queued back to the Kingston roundabout. Bet the delay was more than 15 mins.
But you don’t join the traffic at the Kingston roundabout, you join it at Stanmer Park or the Bridge then up Coldean Lane to join A27

Traffic at the junction for the Bridge car park was gridlocked an hour after the final whistle. I got a lift to the Southern Water car park, it took ages to get out of this car park and then quite a while on the slip road to go under the A27 to head towards Lewes.

Any other time I have been in this car park we are straight out and heading home if we have stayed behind after the final whistle for an hour.

We left straight after the final whistle and got home 15 minutes later than we usually do. Must’ve been lucky. For once the two sets of traffic lights were in our favour.
All I can think is that more people stayed to clap the players leaving a small gap for the quick getaways. Also using Coldean Lane helped us by pass some of the jam on A27 that by the time we joined it was already in an orderly single file.

Oh good, this week's Mill Road Park and Ride thread.

It's a fair complaint. The Highways Agency decided for the works to happen over the Easter holidays when there's load of traffic. Equally they are not working 24 hours a day to get it done - why? Even went through the works today at lunchtime - still nobody working on the 'improvements'. In Japan or Germany this work would have been completed in a week. Hell, even China managed to build a road bridge of 20+ miles inside a month. Russia managed to repair the bridge between Russia and Crimera in two weeks. Why does it take so long in the UK to get infrastructre built/repaired? Laziness!!!!
