I do wonder if they're terrified that if they let him go and he reverts to his days of gambling and drinking they'll get the blame for it
Well being employed hasn't prevented him for being a complete arse-hat.

In February 2024, Merson was probed by the Advertising Standards Authority for misconduct while promoting and advertising Supreme CBD, owned by ex-boxer Anthony Fowler. Fowler along with other celebrities including Merson, Matt Le Tissier and John Hartson have all been investigated and issued with a warning by the ASA. The ASA investigation concluded that their social media posts have been found to be commercial in nature, and not "honest" opinions about the benefits of CBD, since they were being financially rewarded for their posts. The investigation also concluded that the posts made by these celebrities were making unlawful medical claims about the use of CBD, which is prohibited by the Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency.

In May 2024, Merson was banned from driving for six months following a series of speeding offences

Only they generally don’t (IMO), Alex Scott for example was great at first, but now she’s terrible, just laughs at every opportunity. Even Sue Smith on Sky who was my favourite pundit, has gone off the boil for me (just ridiculous bias, as bad as Morrison).

However, I do agree with your broader point, about preferring someone who is coherent and knows what they’re talking about.
Katie Shanahan.
That's all I'm saying.

I like both, tbh - and Ashley Williams
Joe Hart is my current second favourite.
Enthusiasm.
Insight.
Seems like a really nice bloke.
Unbelievably long neck.

At the top, knows about every player at every club in every league....
And quite funny.....
Clinton Morrison.
There, I said it.

I’m now questioning my own pronunciation of Kaoru Mitoma
I seem to pronounce it differently to Guy Mowbray, who says “Kay-or-roo”
Whereas I’ve always believed to be “Kaw-ru”
Such is NSC that there would be some on here that don't believe this guy but it should be beyond dispute.

Also, that video answers the Mo-pay, Mo-pie argument. It is pronounced shithouse.

(Actually Mo-pay)

Worthing
Shout out to Jonathan Pearce for highlighting the poor decision by Anthony Taylor when Mitoma clearly won the ball to put us in a good position, and he called play back for a non foul…..

That was an appalling decision and stopped a promising attack.

Other than that I thought Taylor got most right but that was really bad, the Lino was pretty poor though.

It was an extraordinarily poor decision - Mitoma couldn't believe it. Literally one of the worst I've seen recently although I'm quite sure we would then have made several more passes before the ball didn't get into the danger zone. Other than that I thought he had a good game unlike his lino close to us who missed several offsides for both teams and I suspect may have even tipped Taylor off for this non foul.

What an absolute load of crap. Most one-sided analysis you’ll ever see. We did not even get a mention once until the last ten seconds at the end. even Baleba’s worldie was all about Areola not diving. Complete waste of time
It was like they had done all their analysis assuming West Ham were going to hold onto their 2-1 lead then couldn’t be bothered to tweak it after we scored twice! Oh well as long as we win I don’t care what pundits do or don’t say 😁

Match-winning MOTM performance from Robert Sanchez there. Who'da thunk it, after de Zerbi persuaded 90% of Albion fans that Steele was better (he wasn't a bad GK, and de Zerbi got away with playing him for 1/3 of the season - but better? No). Getting all the praise he deserves from MOTD's GK pundit tonight (Joe Hart?) who knows a lot more about goalkeeping than any of us. too.
Still think RDZ - and more particularly his GK coach (Roberto something?) - did us no service there.
