Post counts: Yay or nay?

Many years ago, I turned them off and they re-appeared with a vBulletin upgrade at some time or another.

So, should we display post counts over there to the left?

Not particularly fussed about them. There are some who use them like a kind of badge of rank."I have posted xxxthousand times, so must therefore be considerably more knowledgeable than yow". Each to their own. I will neither mourn their passing, or rejoice in their continuation.

Keep them on. Every forum I know of shows the post count.

I think removing the "join date" would be more beneficial in removing the wanky JCL comments than removing the post count.

I only check them to see if a poster is new - not quite the same thing as the Join Date, but regular posters carry more weight.

Keep them. It gives you some clue as to how to take a post. There is so much complete and utter bollox posted by some of the newbies that it's handy to know so you can ignore them.

Sadly I have to agree with this. Post count and join date can be useful indicators to the validity of a post
