RIP. Great boxer and seemed like a good bloke. Anyone remember his brief sitcom in the 90s?

Aside from the boxing and the grills, the best thing about Big George is the fact his 5 sons were all named George Edward Foreman (So good, he, put his name on them :lolol: ) And the best thing about his sons is the nicknames- George Jr., George III ("Monk"), George IV ("Big Wheel"), George V ("Red"), and George VI ("Little Joey

His film biopic from 2023 called Big George Foreman is on Netflix, it's good. He lived an full dramatic life. Him winning the title back at 45 years old gives us oldies hope! We won't be winning any boxing titles but he's a good example of not giving up on yourself.

My great friend, and part time colleague, Colin Hart was sitting by the pool in Zaire in 1974, puffing on several Rothmans, Big George told him to stop smoking.

Colin replied “Say please”

It became the stuff of Fleet Street legend, and after Big George did indeed say please, they became firm friends.

He was unfortunately perhaps known most as the B side in one of the greatest sporting events of the 21st century, but we also need to remember 12 months before he’d destroyed the seemingly invincible Joe Frazier in Nassau.

He experienced serious mental health issues after the Ali defeat, but like a true Champion came back to win a World Title 20 years later.

A genuine sporting legend.

RIP ❤️🥊

(And he made more money from the Grill than Boxing 😂)
