Thanks!

If you have a PDA the tom tom navigator is very good. I would say that the Tomtom Go product is as good but is plug and play

I've been looking at that option and think that's probably the sensible way to go.

Now-where are the best deals?

don't get a tomtom go.

they don't do a full post code search for a start.

get a pda, you can then add shit loads of stuff including full post code search, speed cameras and the like and a full array of points of interest from fast food restaurants to massage parlours.

in case you wondered, i'm using a dell axim 5 with tomtom

It's cheaper to download directions and map from the Internet. Free in fact.

They certainly aren't idiot proof, I use Siemens loox with Tomtom 3, bluetooth GPS and an amplified window mount.

i often find it doesn't know the postcode of places i want. ie hotels in the middle of nowhere. It doesn't recognise the M6 toll road, sometimes it just has a fit and sends me totally the wrong way. Last week it sent me 10 miles south on the m4 indicated to come off at the junction directed me round the roundabout and back up the m4 the way i had come down.

And because i am using it in areas i don't know, i just go along with it. I can't even read a map book anymore.........

I would give it 7 out of 10
