Skied the incredible Lagazuoi ‘Hidden Valley‘ in the Italian Dolomites this morning. It finishes with skiers being pulled along by horses over a long flat to the nearest village.

Looks beautiful

My lasting memory of the Sella Ronda is Mrs Wz cartwheeling down a Val Gardena black in an almighty wipeout 31 years ago. I can date it exactly as she was 3 months pregnant with our eldest at the time, and we hadn't told anybody 😲

Off saturday morning with the kids and their partners. Me and Mrs Wz will get the partners down the Aiguille Rouge

Whilst the kids go over the edge, (I remember Me and Mrs Wz going over the edge 40 years ago )

We'll be taking them down this big black/red line to Villaroger

And I love this view of Aiguille Rouge from La Rosière (just the other side of the valley)

That black run hit the headlines mid January for the wrong reasons …. an out of control British lady :(.

The weather gods favoured you, a steady snow top up, following months of drought.

The first bit of the Aiguille Rouge is always really good snow because it's way over 3000M although very steep. My son and daughter both did it first at about 7/8 years old and has been one of our favourite runs ever since, 7Km long, 3Km down.

It's one of the few 'big' runs that me and Mrs Wz can still do way into our 60s (but we stop a few times, top to bottom no stops was the big challenge when we were young)

Can you recall your breakthrough ski trip when you realised you could ski any piste, no matter the steepness, ice etc? I got lucky early on with a fantastic group lessons instructor in 1999. Opened up so many horizons.

The bottom bit of the Aiguille Rouge down to Villaroger was closed today, so we skied the top 75% twice, only stopping 4 times each time

My knees are killing me tonight. Nice shot of Mont Blanc on my way to breakfast this morning
