[Albion] Still 2,000 season tickets to be sold for next season

The thing that really gets my goat is the annual price increase. The actual amount raised for the club and its insignificance compared to other revenue streams seems wildly out of kilter to the actual cost pressure it puts on those supporters trying to make ends meet. In the grand scheme of club revenues and costs it seems almost insignificant and would have been so easy to hold costs to help supporters out.
The trouble is, if you're season ticket goes up 5% and your other bills are going up similarly and your wages certainly didn't go up by that much, then in the end something has to give.

I think it's money to a large extent and I agree with your comments that the ordinary man on the street can't be asked to contribute to the crazy arms race that is football players wages. Tickets across the PL, should be much more reasonable than they are.

To me, the other big annoyance is the sheer number of evening games.

I was going to say that just because there are 2,000 seats available for selection to a new ST purchaser, that doesn't mean there are 2,000 season tickets remaining to be sold, but I'm struggling with the maths a bit.

My assumption is that the club make every unsold seat available for new STH to select from, but they would halt sales at the point they determine they want to stop at in order to leave a reasonable number for match-by-match sales.

That doesn't seem to quite work out, though, as the number of STH/1901ers was around 24k. c3k seats are allocated to away fans. Even if we assume the take-up of STHS was 100% (it wasn't, but we don't know how many new STs have already sold, there should be a lot more than c2,000 available to choose from now.

I don't see why the club would hold back a lot of seats now, and there are a lot of "unattractive" seats in the SE and SW corners available to select from.

This might need the input of a ticket guru, such as @Dave the hatosaurus!

I doubt I'd renew if there wasn't the interest-free monthly direct debit. Do other clubs offer this?
I've said the same thing previously.

I think our interest-free scheme was seen as quite innovative when we introduced it. Some clubs offered payment plans but there were additional fees and/or interest.

I wouldn't be surprised if other clubs have followed our lead now though.

I changed my seats in the upper east a few seasons ago because the person next to me was irritating as hell and, frankly, racist too. I believe he is on here. People I sit near now are very lovely indeed.
It is important. We had a bunch of us who all sat together at Withdean and we all moved en masse to the central WSU. In the ensuing years we've lost four people who fancied the North and now two are going to the East Upper.

I love my view and the only thing that might force a change is the ascent of Everest up to my seat. However, I sussed a long time ago that WSU entrance at back of stand is two flights less than the north west one

In all seriousness, it would be interesting to know what the longevity of a STH is.

when you get to my age there are bound to be more people succumbing to old age related conditions who for those reasons cannot go, and of course those no longer with us ( which at the last game of the season is quite a sobering viewing as the older you get the more you seem to recognise) You also now have people whose financial circumstances change , especially with the orange ones‘ efforts to make everyone apart from billionaires poor, and those who move away etc.

my first one was in the early eighties as before that it was POTG and there was no real reason to get one. I think people got one at withdean and then Amex to be guaranteed a seat really. Perhaps nowadays there are so many on the exchange and unsold, there is no incentive to get one. Also with MyAlbion+ getting a ticket via friends ST is very easy
My dad had a season ticket for about 35 years until ill health (and ultimately death) stopped him going. In total he’d been watching Brighton regularly home and away for 59 years. His attendance dipped a bit in the early eighties when I and then my brother were born and then skyrocketed once I was old enough to go. I don’t think anything other than the club selling out to a immoral sport washing outfit would have stopped him from going.

We've lost a couple of season tickets round us lately, a very elderly father who has sadly passed this season and his rather large, extremely loud 50s? something son, who is moving to where his mates are. Both were great fun and will be sadly missed

Every year this comes up and every year I think should we go 1901 ? (Car parking space and lounge is appealing), but the fact that they invited me again this year and what was it Groucho said ? So another season in the North with my knees  it is.
From the email I think all STHs received, there are no new 1901 spots available this season, so the only option to get one sooner would be a re-sale. They do come up from time to time.

Every year I think I should grow up and get a 1901 prawn cocktail seat (and assumed they're always available if you're quick enough), but I think this is the first year I've actually been emailed about it (it may have been a 5 year ticket).

But I love where I am in the North, even if it means walking to Mill Road, standing on the bus, getting to the ground/concourse and spending the next 4 hours standing in the ground/concourse and then walking back with really dodgy knees.

I'm still trying to play old men's football so I will have to get at least one new knee very soon, but I'll be in the North for a little while yet

I was amazed by this, but maybe it's because Dave renews his username more often than he renews his season ticket
I thought I read he’s a newbie. Maybe I misunderstood a joke or something?

We all got that email - I assume it was the same one - and it was inviting people to put their name down for 2026.

Did i imagine it or was he once under the username Pubeleous Clotirias or something similar 🤷
If you hover over a poster's username ("Dave the OAP" in this instance) another box appears - if they have changed their name there is a symbol that looks like a clock face with an arrow heading counter-clockwise.

If you click on that symbol it will show the previous user names of the poster:-

You can have the best transport links, prematch fanzone and everything, but it's whether people enjoy what they are seeing on the pitch that get people to turn up.
I don't know, I used to enjoy watching the football with my Dad and Brother regardless. Celebrating the wins together and enjoying the catharsis of having a moan about the game, ref, players etc if we lost. I agree it may be about the football itself for a lot of people though. Although Gully's Girls were on the pitch for a spell as well...

Pretty sure there’s a minimum number that have to go on sale for home general sale thinks it’s 10% like the initial away allocation.

I’m waiting to see prices for the NS upper tier lounge.

So, 'Dave the Gaffer' must have been pre 2003 then?
