There's also the occasional contingent that travel to home games from well outside of Sussex. The thought of watching a poor performance against West Ham and parting with the best part of £200 is not at all appealing...and it's a long way from Leicestershire.

Thanks mate, appreciate that...

Formula 1 is obviously his ultimate dream but you need serious money to make that a reality... There are a number of other disciplines that he can look towards too though...

Funny how you don't know what talents someone has until trying something... And the wonders it has done his confidence, self esteem and mental wellbeing is huge...

Still will be tough when next season starts... But hopefully get along to a few games as a day ticket... 🙏
In other news I'm struggling to get my 10 year old son really into football big time. He likes playing but I've warned him he needs get obsessed with the Albion soon or it's off to boarding school if we win the lottery!

Thing is they can….for every £30-£40 season ticket price, they can get a tourist paying £60 -£70

thing is the bubble will burst and clubs are trying to cash in now whilst it’s available ( make hay whilst the sun shines)
I think its a poor business model really. Short termist. And the principle of this thread suggests even the top teams are struggling as soon as the tourist trap wanes and people are overexposed to expensive matches.

They'd be better off taking care of loyal local fans, offering enticemntents, having full stadiums and keeping rhe product good.

Maybe other PL clubs but my guess is Brighton really couldn’t do this. The demand or fanbase - much as it’s grown - isn’t there.

. To fill the ground, and they want to do that. They have to rely heavily on season ticket holders. If anything it looks like they are trying to sell more of them this season.

I wonder if there is something bigger going on. Just looked at the BARB ratings and year on year Sky’s viewing numbers and reach have fallen for Sky Football and Sky Premier League.

Has the market at last reached saturation point for mainstream viewers?

And as fans like @Motogull have said, when it comes to planning life around a football schedule that cares little for the loyal attending fan, then we shouldn’t be surprised when something eventually snaps.
I think you’re on to something. I watch far less non Brighton football than I ever have. For me it’s partly because of VAR. I have to suffer it to watch Brighton but I can’t be getting stressed over VAR interfering in a game for two other sides.

It can be a slow burn for some kids, at 10 my son was on his gadgets all the time much to the harrumphing of East Stand onlookers even tho he was obsessed with playing football. Now he’s obsessed by watching both home and away

I’m giving up my (and my son’s) season ticket at the end of this season after 13 years.

He went off to uni a couple of years ago and it’s not the same without him at most games.

Plus i’m buying a new house and that £160 each month is needed elsewhere.

Have very mixed feelings about this as my loyalty points will dwindle to a point where I won’t be able to go to most away games.

But equally this might be a temporary situation if I feel like I’m really missing out.

I think Sky have had their biggest ever viewing figures for live football - this season.

Just mad not opening with just 75 available. Some will not consider those available and will want to see if any available near friends. Leave it too late and other arrangements made
Not sure who is leaving it this late -ofc there will be some - as its been relatively easy to get pairs etc for a while now. i bought (good) reasonably priced tickets for my guests weeks ago so they could be near their friends (ie: me) .

A few 1901’s kicking about too
Do I need to buy a 5 year licence thing as well, or can I just swap season ticket from North to 1901, plus the upgrade cost.

Yep bonkers. But they're stuck on this. They should kick it in when it drops to less than 500. I understand the financial argument why they don't but it means less bums on seats I'm sure.

Having had season tickets for 10+years I gave it up a couple of years ago as work / holidays meant I was only getting to 13-14games a season. I now love the flexibility I have - I go with my son to some games, go with mates when it’s their team, sometimes just go on my own (butting ticket 2hrs before game starts) I have sat in every stand and I’m now going to stick with it

Actually, and i stand to be corrected, if you’re able to buy a 1901 off an existing owner who’s looking to offload then in some transaction’s i’ve heard of the existing owner simply transfers the ticket to new ownership along with payment commitments and often doesn’t recoup any licence costs, naturally through BHAFC they wouldn’t be so friendly 😉
