Anyone heard of price elasticity of demand ? If the price increase causes demand fall but not fall enough then the club makes more money. Im sure the club have it all worked out .

Oh dear.

Just paid £12.80 for 2 pies and 2 soft drinks. An increase of 28% from last season. Suffice to say I won't be eating or drinking again here this season. £230 a season the club have lost from just me alone.

£2.50 for a soft drink and £3.90 for a pie.

The club has some serious explaining to do.

Players wages maybe?

But isn't it impossible to judge how the number of sales will change with an increase in price? I'd guess that the club are testing the water with this.
Despite most people on here saying how it will affect their matchday routine, I think that the majority of people are likely to soak up the price increase.

I'm not thrilled with the increases either, but bearing in mind what I pay for my season ticket another £1 a week on a pie and a pint I can handle. IMO at least the food is pretty decent for a football ground. A few weeks ago I spent £8 at the O2 for a pint and something that resembled a slice of pizza. I'd rather the club make a bit extra money at my expense if it means us pushing on. We all hate price increases but at least we now have a decent stadium, decent squad of players, and much better food than before. I'll take the price increase, but I do understand not everyone will agree.

This. I paid £4 a pint at goodwood races yesterday and £6.70 for a cheeseburger.

I think if anything the club UNDER priced things last season. I'm sure most people wouldn't have grumbled at £4 a pint, so the increases for this season possible seem worse than they are. Under £8 for a pint and something to eat at a major sporting venue is not over the top.

Personally, if you don't like it, don't pay it. If you choose to not like it but still pay it, you can't complain.

Prices are steap but it's a football stadium, you'll find it hard to find one that's different.

I was more pissed off with the service again yesterday. I was in the WSL and left 5 mins before half time so I could grab a pint. Obviously, I missed Barnes's goal which pissed me off a tad, then queued all of half time, finally got to the front to be told that they we're not serving anymore beer! Ridiculous how long it took, Azure still havent changed anything about their service from last season even after numerous complaints, do the even pass this on to them!? Staffing is the issue, they need double the staff they have on match day at the moment. Simple.

The club should give them a kick.

Like most people, I am pretty annoyed about this.

Like most people, I will end up eating and drinking just as much at the Amex this season as last.

I agree with what you are saying ZTEVEN but unlike most clubs it is ESSENTIAL that people go to The Amex early and stay late to alleviate congestion. With this in mind BHA need to be more careful with their pricing structure than other clubs. Surely the simplest way to encourage people to eat and drink at the ground is to make it VERY reasonable prices.

I'd love to have an opinion on the prices, but I still struggled with the problem of actually getting served. Now, I did make the mistake of waiting until the half-time whistle sounded before heading down into the North concourse for my refreshments (thus witnessing Barnes' goal, which many seemed to miss). I just wanted to grab a Pie and a Harveys so, after checking there was a Harveys tap there, I decided to join the appropriately named "Pie and Pint" queue.

By the time I got to the front, the 2nd half was well underway and they had stopped serving alcohol (which was irrelevant, as this point I had already decided not to get a drink as I wouldn't have time to drink it) so I just got a pie. I could see that they hadn't been marked on the sides, so it was going to be pot luck what they offered me. Although I pointed this out to them and that I was happy to have what I was given, they still gave me the option - so I went for Steak & Ale. I paid up and returned to my seat, and bit into a delicious Chicken Balti.

I've never understood why anyone would buy food in a football ground. If you're at something that goes on all day like cricket or tennis, yeah you'll need something to eat, but at FOOTBALL? If you honestly can't go two hours without filling your fat face, you should speak to a doctor.
I left Luton (with Subway in hand) at 11:45 - got stuck at London Bridge (with my travel advice tweet to NSC duely retweeted!) due to the fatality. Eventually arrived at the Amex at 14:55 before setting off straight after the match for the journey back, getting to Stevenage for 19:50. However, on your advice, I'll now refrain from consuming any food at the Amex lest I be judged with accusing eyes.

For comparison I believe its around 3.00 for a pie at pride park. And around 4.50 for a burger. Pride park is an example of a very well run stadium IMO ofcourse.

again, what has this to do with Amex pricing?

Under £8 for a pint and something to eat at a major sporting venue is not over the top.

but we arent a major sporting venue. this comparison keeps seeming to be made. you go to Wembley, Goodward, O2 as a treat, a day out. you go to the Amex every week on average through the season. different price sensitivities, pricing policies required.

i used to use a cafe and got my fayre for £3.50 just about everyday. they up'd the prices to £3.65, i tolerated, then £3.80 within a few months. combinded with poor service, i stopped going. i prefered to spend £4 at a better cafe next door for a curry, or go to Tescos or Subway most the week. only 30p, but i didnt feel it was worth it anymore. overall, i saved money having a treat of the curry once/twice a week and others cheaper. that cafe used to be rammed from 1-2, now you see only one or two people waiting at lunch time. people are joking this will get the queues down, not so funny if next season we have 30% hike on tickets to cover the short fall in revenue.

But you're not comparing like with like. I'm guessing they have pukka pies or similar, which will have around 20p worth of meat in rather than £2. I bet you anything that their mark up is far higher than on our "artisan" pies.

Edit: and it's one of the poorest cities in the country.

LOL !

some of ours, do seem obsessed with queing for 15minutes for an overpriced pie which may be hot, or may be not, theyre ok some of the time, most times at half time they dont have what you want, very cunning plan too, giv ing a 10% cashback 1st season , then increasing prices
by far more than 10% the next year,

will be taking a bottle of water to each game and going to the chip shop before or after if i get hungry again

This. I paid £4 a pint at goodwood races yesterday and £6.70 for a cheeseburger.

One-off trip to Glorious Goodwood.

But with trips to the Amex 23 to 30 times a season, almost a home-from-home, these high prices will now tot up to a prohibitive total for many thousands of fans.

I hope Barber/Azure act to reduce when the season proper begins.

Agree .

Certain things are a given to pull your pants down financially ie service stations , off licences at stations , sporting events etc etc .

If it started at this price I'm sure no one would mind .

Understand concerns for future though .

What was it Jesse jay sung about again ?
