Always one of the jewels in the British sporting calendar and this years edition is one of the most eagerly anticipated ever. Was always on my bucket list to attend and when I did it did not disappoint, the atmosphere on the Thames joining many hundreds of thousands of other spectators was absolutely electric.

Had a pony on Cambridge -2.5 lengths in the Men's Race which looks a fantastic bet to me.

I'm calling it as a resounding victory for the e-Coli which will have the winning cox not venturing further than 2 yards of a toilet for about a week

Why? It's a race, and a pretty competitive one. Been to see it once, 60 odd years ago. You get a better view on the tele.

The boat race, with the Grand National, are the first welcome signs of spring to many people! Carry on - it's harmless fun.
The Grand National isn't harmless fun, sadly.

It never fails to impress me just how much ire and hatred people can have over what is, ultimately, a fairly innocuous sporting event

It’s not even saturated in betting sponsorship and sees participants killed like last weekend’s

I said 'it's', not 'they're'. Even the Grand National is a lot safer these days though, and they can't do much more. If you want to stop horses doing the things they naturally do (running and jumping) fair enough. Not for me though.

Whenever Crodo posts a mushy post I slag it off big time. Have a look at past posts mate.
I normally instantly press 'ignore thread' whenever Crodo starts one. This one was a rare exception, because I sort of like the Boat Race in a funny sort of way. Yes, it's actually a very competitive race, but also quite niche. To me it's a nice sort of English eccentricity.

Totally agree. I love it. But Crodo must not be allowed to wallow in a bubble bath of self-indulgence and wa*king penguism.
He must be held to account for the fop he is :)
