Wallander, the beloved Swedish series, is to return in its native country with a new reboot.

We’ve had two series of Young Wallander on Netflix, and plenty of different incarnations of Henning Mankell’s titular detective. Now we’re getting another one.

TV4’s version will be a “modernised and reimagined reboot” starring Gustaf Skarsgård.

Variety says that the new series will see Kurt Wallander, now 42, who’s recently separated after two decades of marriage and estranged from his daughter. On the edge as his life seemingly unravels, Wallander drinks too much, sleeps too little, and carries the weight of every unsolved case.

Thanks for the heads up. Nothing can better the original series. I still remember the iconic ringtone on his phone. Is Young Wallander worth a look?

I’ve enjoyed both the original and the Branagh remake. Not bothered with the Young Wallander. Any good?
