Sounded to me like a large proportion of them were singing "You shit f***ing perverts, we'll sing what we like". Now nobody appreciates a bit of banter more than me :) but this seemed like a return to the old days of regular homophobic abuse. Jolly times.
However - I havent seen anyone else remarking on this, and wondered whether I misheard (they sang this loudly at least on two occasions - both at 0-0, and then when it was 1-0).
I thought they were cretins , to be honest, but just wonder if Ive misheard, - later on in the second half there was a chant about a "f***ing German" (Fullkrug I think)... but that was different , Im sure.

Can anyone else corroborate this? Or am I wrong?

Was amazed when many fans on the concourse asking about the song had never heard of Uwe Hünemeier.
Unbelievable Jeff.
Willing to bet a few of those who used to sing that song to Hünemeier had never heard of Per Mertesacker either :)

Apart from a few dozen with a half hearted "Does your boyfriend", it was nearly all Big German related in the first half. Telling everyone that had a big German. That the big German says what he wants. That Potter needed to bring on the German. And that the German was right about the general state of their play.

Er, none of that actually happened.

Were you the one who reported that Brighton fans sing "sieg heil"?

Correct. I was sat no more than ten metres from them in the south, and this is right. They had a couple of chavvy gobby dorks as expected in their support, but they were ok overall

One chant is being overlooked here though. They sang "your support is f***ing shit". I mean really. a) It's like they've never been to their own stadium before and b) nothing screams "quality support" more than spending half the game singing how f#cking shit your team is. I can imagine their players absolutely lapped that up.

It wasn't very clear exactly what they were chanting yesterday, but it definitely sounded like one or more of them were about a gerbil ...

Now you say it, I think you could be right and it was in fact "Big f***ing gerbil, he plays for our club".

If I were faced with that big f***ing gerbil, I would let him say anything he wanted.

Literally anything.
