Your first option is clearly the most favourable. I couldn't stand the stress of playing Palace at Wembley, so any option with them not in it is fine. I truly believe there isn't much between us, Bournemouth, Man City, Villa, Fulham, so whoever we get is probably two 50:50 games to win it, assuming we win another 50:50 game tomorrow.

The FA Cup Final, at Wembley, against THEM.

As horrendous as it COULD be, we'd all HAVE to be there, surely?

The chance to see the greatest triumph in our club's history, made ten times sweeter by beating THEM.
Fewer than 20% of the votes, so far, don't want them to get through. Parents would think twice about taking younger children etc.
It's ok looking at the positives, but, imagine if THEY beat us! We'd never hear the end of it. It really doesn't bear thinking about.

Not Palace if we get through. The way to ruin a great experience. Pain in the arse before the game, win and the f***wits will be out in force to suck the fun out of it, lose and it wouldn't be enjoyable for obvious reasons.

I'd say the same thing offline.

Opting out of watching a final because its against a rival = pathetic. No other way to put it.
Well, not really. After the semi against man utd a couple of years ago, we had to stand around outside the stadium with thousands of brighton and united supporters waiting together to reach the train station. Fine, mostly. One or 2 united supporters made it a little tedious, but mostly the waiting around was the worst thing. Now, imagine waiting around in that crowd after the game where one team will have beaten the other, and a very substantial number (albeit no doubt still a stupid minority) of supporters goading the others, whilst a substantial number (albeit minority of) opposing fans get all upset about it. There would, in my opinion, be a very high risk if serious bovver. And if not, it would at least be intimidating and scary to a lot of people, especially if kids are in tow. So that's why I agree it could put a lot of people off going. It would be a policing nightmare too.

Ok.

I guess the conclusion is that family oriented clubs should try to avoid developing rivalries with other clubs as the fans are too scared to watch the games. Or just remain irrelevant and title-less so others team don't get agitated.

Brighton
Brighton vs Palace final I want. So semi would be Preston.
This

Despite folk saying they want them beaten, I think at heart folk see that as a dream final.
Yes I would.

No.

Imagine if we lost...

Yes, we could beat them, but it's just not worth the risk.
This is true, maybe I don't want them in the final.

I want Palace in the Final please.

The time has come to end this feud once and for all.

Let's beat them in the final.
Actually, I do want them in the final.

Now you're just being a bit of a tit. I'm simply saying that some people would be put off going because it would be too intimidating, particularly if they have kids in tow. Probably most people on this board would still go, I would still go. If we lost, it would be deeply unpleasant, but it wouldn't stop me going. The ensuing twattery from sections of both sets of fans would also be deeply unpleasant but to be expected. For some people (and as I've already said particularly those with children) it would be too much and they would choose to give it a miss. Surely you can understand that?

Yes, perhaps I am.

And sure, I do get it, but imho a cup final or derby should be too much. A cup final is like the night club after the nice but slow dinner party, after all the toddler parents have gone back home. If Brighton continue to do well, these high stake-high intensity games are going to be quite frequent. The team will play important, emotional cup games and travel all across Europe playing in front of very wild crowds that might stab people in the arse.

Reading this thread, people seem to prefer losing to City in a final rather than play against Palace in it, because "its not as upsetting" etc. What kind of attitude is that? Why play or watch football if people don't want it to be emotionally engaging?

A cup final or some away trip to Marseille or Belgrad... sure, maybe those things aren't optimal for famiies, and ok, I understand some people will stay home. But these people have 38 games per season they can attend in the safest, most quiet and sanitised league in the world. Maybe a cup final could be something else.

Those who'd stay at home because of safety reasons of course aren't pathetic. The ones who opt to stay out and miss one of the greatest games in the history of the club because they might end up feeling sad and envious about the other team winning... that's the ones that would be pathetic.

Has to be Palace out under any circumstances.

Playing Palace at Wembley would be bad. LOSING to Palace at Wembley would, IMHO, be worse even than that play off game. If it was the final and they beat us there that would be unfathomable in how terrible it would be. It would NEVER end. Ever. We could turn them over 5-0 for ten seasons in a row and it wouldn’t scratch the surface.

Lose to Fulham? Oh well. Lose to Bournemouth? Shame. Lose to Palace? f*** no.

I agree with what you're saying, but my point was something different. Of course people shouldn't not go to games because it's all a bit stressful and the result might be upsetting. That is indeed a bit pathetic. My point is that some people might elect to miss a high stakes game against Palace (and we're specifically talking Palace here) because they don't wish to feel intimidated or fear for their safety, or their children's safety. Would you really turn on a terrified 7 year old tell him or her to stop snivelling, because it's all good and how it should be, and they should just suck it up if they want to be a proper fan?

If I could guarantee us winning it’s a dream final. That extra thing of palace winning at our expense makes it a potentially hideous proposition. We would never get rid of Dougie
I perma-banned him in December…

That said, I would far rather lose now or in the semi than in the Final vs Palace.
