Obviously a student of Mr. Ecclestone’s negotiations with many global GP Track owners.

I don't ever want to see it leave the Crucible or at the worst Sheffield - but I have to say that Hearn does, *cough, splutter* have a point. The World Championship has been there just shy of 50 years, and the Crucible is the spiritual home of snooker. However in that time the 'spiritual homes' of other sports, Wembley, Twickenham and Wimbledon for example, have all been massively done-up. The Crucible hasn't, and don't forget it's a theatre for the rest of the year. Maybe snooker needs a place just for snooker? After all Wembley no longer hosts greyhound racing or the Horse of the Year show.

Plus there is perhaps an argument that, like the World Cup, it should move to other countries. Without looking it up I know it was definitely held in Australia once - and Jersey!

What other countries would you guess it would move to?

And in each of those cases, the work was paid for, in the main, by the sports themselves. Why should the people of Sheffield pay for Hearn and the players to earn yet more millions?

Barry is no longer a decision maker.

I'm all for tradition but the Crucible is probably not the right venue for the WC anymore and why would Sheffield want to revamp it for 17 days per year?

Yes, point taken. Looks like the (potential) end for the Crucible then unless he can get Chinese or Saudi money, and they'd probably want the tournament themselves. :(
