This is said reasonably often by supporters of the winning side, but almost never by supporters of the losing side
That's a stereotype.

I'm trying to remember if I actually noticed him during the match at all.

When pondering why we were 2-1 down at 83mins and most likely going to lose, the ref's performance didn't register. I wear blue and white tinted glasses too so the ref is normally my 'go to'.

While often true we were 2-1 down on 83 and only won with the last kick. He still let the game flow, got the big calls right and was barely noticed by the crowd in either section

Yeah I'm definitely THE most one-eyed, ref-hating supporter, and I think I only moaned about one decision (free kick for a slight hold on Bowen, 20 seconds after a similar pull on Weiffer had won the ball for them).

If it's limited me to a slight grumble about "consistency" , he's been near perfect.

The linesmen though....

The one on the West side was flagging for offside as it happened.
On the East side he was waiting for the attack to play out before flagging.

Why is there no consistency on this?

They’re only meant to flag on clear and obvious decisions.

Okay, but now there’s an argument on what’s clear and obvious!

There were two or three incidents involving the west stand lino where he didn't, leading to Dunky berating him and the ref at one point, with a lengthy discussion then had, as could easily have led to an injury for Verbruggen as the ball was loose and a scramble in the box.

You'll struggle to surpass @Eeyore on this front
Agree with @Guinness Boy though. He let a lot go, which helped the game to flow. I liked how he got players to take the throw from the right place and did it quickly.

Said this to my friends as well, even before I knew who there’s actually was. Excellent performance
