Strange! I was 170 and there were >80 available in just the block I chose.
Was able to pick the specific seat I wanted too. I wonder if your browser just took a while to refresh and get you in.
I looked 60 secs later and there was only a couple left

So peculiar. The vagaries of the ticketing system will never be explained!

I think there is something not right about this system, just been given position 1058 which is exactly the same position I got for Palace in T2 last week. The chances of that happening both times are obviously thousands to 1.
The chances are exactly the same as any other two positions.

An amusing one from when I worked in the betting shops was the threat of someone asking to borrow our Vacuum Cleaner.

They would always be polite claiming to be from and naming the local charity shop just up the road, explaining theirs was broken.

Needless to say you’d never see them or said Henry ever again!

Across London over the years William Hill literally lost hundreds of them 🤣
Did you get a Brentford ticket though?

Too bad. The current system rewards those that do spend a lot of money travelling, they do spend a lot of time travelling to the arse end of the country so why should someone in that group miss out on a trip to Brentford because others don't give that commitment or just fancy an easy trip up to London? And as others have said, there are plenty of games in London that go down to the lower tiers.
depends how you measure commitment clearly club do in monetary terms

Are there really 'plenty of London games that go down to the lower tiers'? I did finally get a ticket for the Emirates this season but was lucky. I usually struggle to get anything in London. Though I think West Ham was a possible when it was an evening game. I do go to plenty of away games further north but as long as the regulars go too, their points totals just go up with mine!

Can you just try different devices and then just go with the one with the best queue position?

Sorry, but that is absolute horseshit.

The points are allocated on attendance - on people giving their time and effort, over other leisure options - to travel the country supporting the team. The club get no income from people's attendance at Premier league AWAY games, so to suggest it is all about money is drivel.

I failed to get a ticket for Brentford, because enough other people have made a bigger commitment to following the team around the country over the last two seasons than I have. Disappointing, but completely fair.

I think you just have to be consistent with the long distance games and eventually you will get through, most of my mates worked their way up, and now are pretty solidly in the top tier. There is probably only about 100 or so who will see at every game without any fail whatsoever.

To add to this, plenty of people are clearly moving up into the top tier this season. At the start of the season my dad and I were comfortably in tier 1 regardless of allocation (comfortably for Bournemouth for example). Have only done 6/15 aways this season (for multiple reasons - we normally get to over 50% of aways and would have this season if not for Brentford) and have found ourselves just short of tier 1 (5 points) and missed out on tickets for this - a first that this has happened in the AMEX era.

I have heard a little rumour that a fair few tickets were held back for players and staff so am still hopeful of nabbing a couple.

The chances are exactly the same as any other two positions.
Assume there are 5000 in the queue:
1. Before the first event, the chances of the two being 1058 (or any pre-specified number) is about one in 25 million. That’s 1/5000 times 1/5000.
2. Before the first event, or after it, the chances of the second being the same as the first (but not a specific number) are one in 5000, because the first event is irrelevant (any number will do) and the second is simply one in 5000 that the outcome will equal it. So it’s 1/5000.

Thinking about it logically it does make some sort of sense.
At the top of the points list are people like jackalbion who go to every game but there will not be many like him. The next group down, say about 50 points back will be those who go to a lot of games but by no means all who are probably scattered across the next 80 points or so. Then behind them will be others who go to some away and all the home cup games who will be i would think a much larger number but spread over fewer points. Then the vast majority of season ticket holders who do not do away games as a rule and may only have their season ticket points plus a few home cup games, in essence a very large number spread over a very small points range.
642 Points if you wondered!
