I saw that thread but it wasn’t my experience nor those I know.
Fair enough and sorry you're not a STHolder from May.. OFC Its not always 100% and if my ticket had , for example , been sold without adequate communication or good reason then i'd have been furious - but for reasons of balance

PS For those that didn't have time to read it. There are 23 different NSC users on that thread are have had a positive experience of dealing with Supporters Services calling various members of the team "superstars", "really helpful", "excellent" and "brilliant" and testimonials saying the club resolved multiple ticketing issues including "bereavement, "mobility of an OAP" (My Dad), and "a seat being occupied by mistake",

Compared to other clubs, the Albion generally get it about right.

As a comparison, there’s absolute uproar at Cambridge Utd this season as those found to be in breach of ground regulations are being ejected mid-match by stewards with no right of re-entry, whilst the rest of us have to stay and watch the game.

Hey @DarrenFreemansPerm - did your friend settle things with the club ? Are they now attending again ? Was it ever resolved ?
Not really, he had to miss the games that they had sold and he’s attended every fixture bar one since. The club were never shifting from the stance that they’d adopted so he gave up fighting them over it.

If they don't ask, how do they distinguish between examples such as that, and the affluent stayaways who can't be arsed to go ?
Because the numbers will tell them. They need to focus on the people who never turn up and don't sell their seat. Then those who perhaps attend only 25% , then maybe 50%. There will certainly be some in those numbers who have hit some sort of crisis but people missing 2-4 games aren't the problem.

Best practise is to slice the elephant not consume it whole so start with the 'worst' and go from there.

Why do fans need to be questioned? Things happen in life where football is just a pass time, and the last thing anyone thinks of, is informing the club. A friend of mine told me yesterday, she was questioned by the club as to why she hadn't attended several games. She gave birth to a baby, who was then very ill and readmitted to hospital.
Do you really think the main thing on her mind was to inform the club?

I can understand the club wants bums on seats, but surely a bit of humanity and leeway from the club wouldn't amiss.
You are looking at it from the individual’s point of view. If you are the club and are looking at the data showing we have 5000 season ticket holders who are missing a quarter of our home games (numbers just plucked out of the air as an example) then I don’t think it’s unreasonable that you’d like to understand why, and see if there is any way we could get these seats filled.

What if there was a big trend in the answers people were giving about being sick of anti social behaviour of fans around them, for example. The club would obviously want to be aware of that.

If people have reasons like you friend above and the club say tough luck, we are taking your seat away then that would be appalling. But I’m yet to hear of anything like that happening.

I also find it a bit odd when the same people love to moan about how football is too expensive are then OK with just not bothering to try resell their ticket when they can’t attend. It doesn’t make sense.

Correct. People seems to twist the circumstances to suit their argument.

Some support the team and not the club

They’re all part of the problem….all lead to unnecessarily empty seats. The numbers not attending due to a last-minute crisis, on a regular basis, will be relatively miniscule.

But make sure it’s at least 24 hours before kick off or else. Don’t be taken ill on the same day.

I have listed my ticket. Just once I didn’t because it was the Southampton game and there were hundreds of tickets available on general sale. I was in bed, ill, so I didn’t bother because I didn’t think it would sell.
I didn’t know the club was having a clamp down, so I was upset to get the email, and upset by the tone of it. I replied to say that I was ill but received no reply.

Have to confess I chucked mine in when we got to the PL. I do go occasionally but my flame got put out by the corporateness ( spell check redid this to corporate mess) of our new life with the ”elite” of the game. Man Utd are a prime example - sacking loads of low paid people to fund a week’s wages for some “super flop”.
They can throw the word “community” around all they like but it is so far removed from the community feel I remember that spawned my love of the Albion. It’s progress as far as the playing side is concerned but the corporate nature is both necessary and irreversible. Sad, from my point of view, but new fans will have their own experiences that they will look back on - I hope with as much fondness.
Unfortunetly they wont be concerned. Anybody giving up ST in Upper East club pleased as can now sellseat for £60 plus a game

No need for me to write this but I will.

Not now but a few years ago. My son suffers anxiety issues. we get to football he can't go in. We leave.

Why the f*** should I have to tell the club my son has these issues it has the square root of f*** all to do with them. As a parent I will protect him.

Interesting that plenty of people think listing their ticket on the Exchange is some sort of imposition. I list mine not out of fear of being sanctioned, or even a particular desire to ensure the club gain maximum revenue. I list it because it’s quite nice to get my money back on the seat (less £1).

It’s baffling. I’m not exactly stoney broke but I’m not turning down the chance to get a £30 refund (oldie’s rate) for less than a minute’s hard graft logging into my club account and ticking a box. Yet people complain about being encouraged to do so. Odd!

Maybe it's not those who complain that "football is too expensive" that aren't "bothering to try to resell their ticket when they can't attend".

Maybe some look at it from their own point of view on the day. Is it too cold/wet/windy, feeling a bit down, genuine emergency or just don't feel like it.

My main gripe, were I to get one of those emails, would be that there was nothing in the T&Cs when I bought my season ticket regarding the club's right to sell my season ticket to someone else, no matter whether I attended or not.

Next season is different, the new T&Cs have been published.

You don’t owe anyone an explanation. There are a few who think they’re better than others, but one day, they’ll have health issues and/or get old.
