The possible end to the Russia-Ukraine war has created a vacancy.

We know that Russia works on multiple fronts.
We know that Russia has weaponised migration.
We know that Russia has been carrying out a hybrid war against Finland, including ten large cyber warfare attacks between 2022 and 2024.

What we didn't know until now, is that Russia is building infrastructure to house 20,000 people on the Russia-Finland border.

This is a 20 minute watch.

Saw it reported a few days ago (no, can't remember where, as usual) Russia was building large military compound about 20 miles from Finnish border. I can't believe they are in any position to take on NATO even minus the US.

Still, NATO troops need to get to that border now. A massive show of force that shows Putin what he’ll get if he so much as looks at that border funny.

Everyone failed to do that for Ukraine and that’s why Putin invaded.

He looks for weakness. Let him find devastating, united, strength.

Or Finland will be next. I guarantee it.

So what might the reason be for this compound? Here are the ones I can think of.

1. Intimidation of Finland / Nato. Standard Russian procedure on treatment of neighbouring countries..
2. Information gathering - test the Nato article 5 response in terms of timing, warning, threshhold, severity of response, all the while listening in to communications from Nato command and control structures.
3. House an 'invasion' force which will presumably be undetectable when they are inside under cover. Perhaps not to invade, but just to house veterans from Ukraine, who they wouldn't want returning home to Russia and causing unrest. This will also deliver the intimidation in point 1.
4. A base to house incoming migrants who wish to migrate to Europe, with a view to destabilising European governments.

I don't think there is anything that can be guaranteed, apart from wide-ranging things like 'Russia will not stop', and 'Russia will always be belligerent'.
As we have seen, Russia operates on a number of fronts, including some quite inventive ones, like cutting undersea cables. These may or may not be accompanied by an actual invasion.

Putin sees Nato as a barrier to his further expansion west. Finland is a recent Nato member. Command and control comms and structures may not yet be bedded in. He will want to punish Finland for having the temerity to join Nato in the face of his disapproval.

He knows that hybrid actions can be hugely disruptive, and intimidation can be very effective.

Let's keep all options on the table. Everything stays on the table, and nothing comes off it.

Agreed...but WOULD it be NATO? Personally I think it would be a European Coalition of the Willing, because Trump would NOT allow US involvement even if article 5 triggered. That's my belief from the past few weeks, sadly of course.

Some very important stuff in Jake's video as usual

You can say that again.
That was an extraordinary watch. Where does Trump get his ideas from?

Amongst all the utter shit, I did find one positive thing. I had to look hard for it but there it is, at 10:25.
'Russia asks US to let it use frozen assets to buy Boeing planes'. Translated, that means Russia is short of funds, and short of planes.

Like the last bit but if Trump says yes we will know exactly where we stand. America first makes me fear the arsehole will say yes but try and keep it quiet.

Apologies if I’ve missed any previous posts on a UN resolution a couple of days ago. It was about cooperation with the Council of Europe and apparently the US voted against it because the resolution included condemnation of Russian aggression in Ukraine.

Also voting against (no surprises): Russia, Belarus, N Korea, Nicaragua and a few of the usual African states.
Notable abstentions: Algeria, Bahrain, Brazil, China, Egypt, India, Iran, Pakistan, Saudi Arabia , S.Africa.
Resolution carried 105 in favour, 9 against, 33 abstentions

As we’ve said before on here, how in the hell have we reached a situation where the US is voting with Russia and the likes of North Korea against its allies?

You didn't miss any posts, it was just one of the extraordinary items in Jake's last video.
I guess if anyone dared to challenge Trump it (and I don't believe anyone has...maybe Europe is just ignoring it) he'd say " I'm giving Putin space so he can come to the table..." or some other utter bs. The US is clearly on Russia's side.
Be careful with that mineral deal, Ukraine 🤞🏻.

Yes, it was extraordinary. I sometimes help the thread by putting 3 or 4 bullet highlights in front, but this was pretty much the whole video 😬.

Indeed. I thought of expressing my incredulity by highlighting the more er, incredible items, but they were all completely bonkers.

Quietly asking a 'European nation' not to help Ukraine?? WTF?
Then offering us a trade deal, but then specifying that the offer of a trade deal is predicated on repealing our hate laws to protect the LGBT+ community? WTF?

There's not reading a room, and then there's believing you own someone else's room the moment you enter it, and you can do whatever you want.
Hopefully this stultifying arrogance will shortly be laughed out of court and thrown out of office.
