Indeed. I thought of expressing my incredulity by highlighting the more er, incredible items, but they were all completely bonkers.

Quietly asking a 'European nation' not to help Ukraine?? WTF?
Then offering us a trade deal, but then specifying that the offer of a trade deal is predicated on repealing our hate laws to protect the LGBT+ community? WTF?

There's not reading a room, and then there's believing you own someone else's room the moment you enter it, and you can do whatever you want.
Hopefully this stultifying arrogance will shortly be laughed out of court and thrown out of office.
Yes, their arrogance is breathtaking and they must be sidelined.
And they don't understand why the EU and UK don't want to take their 'beautiful, it's really beautiful...' steroidal beef and chlorinated chicken..."Europe has so many stupid restrictions..." 🤣🤣.

And for voting with Russia (and N Korea,Belarus etc) at the UN, the US can just do one. Even China abstain. I do hope that Europe and other sensible nations note very clearly how the US is voting.

It's exhausting isn't it, just reading this stuff. Imagine being a diplomat in those UN meetings, or any meeting with the US right now - must be shaking their heads in disbelief.

You didn't miss any posts, it was just one of the extraordinary items in Jake's last video.
I guess if anyone dared to challenge Trump it (and I don't believe anyone has...maybe Europe is just ignoring it) he'd say " I'm giving Putin space so he can come to the table..." or some other utter bs. The US is clearly on Russia's side.
Be careful with that mineral deal, Ukraine 🤞🏻.
If I could write the script, Ukraine would sign a deal with US ( for short term expediency) and then Europe gets its military act together so that it puts Europe in a strong enough position to keep Russia at bay for the foreseeable future. That might take a while but when we get there, I hope at that point Ukraine will tear up the treaty with US and tell it to do one.

Trump said today that he knows when he’s being played. Well, that time has come. In fact he’s been played by Putin from the start - and every one knew that was going to happen……..except Trump. I think it’s called “hubris” Donald.

Should Europe put in its own “rare earth minerals” deal to Ukraine, with a view to maybe selling them on to US ( at a premium of course)?

Couple of interesting notes related to various posts above:

1) Minerals deal - I saw in a report today that one of the sticking points with the US-Ukraine deal was a clash with an earlier EU-Ukraine minerals deal. Edit: see this link

2) Finland - reminded me of this Le Monde video on preparedness in Northern Europe, which includes a Finland segment. Lengthy but lots of interesting stuff

This is not a peace deal. It's a surrender deal.

Not really a deal at all. The US is in no position to agree a ceasefire by handing over someone else's land - whatever they may think.

Or, if what they are saying is that Russia will finally enter a ceasefire if it's accepted that Crimea is Russian - then they will have a ceasefire for a day, then break it. The US will then say 'too late, we've accepted Crimea is Russia's - and they'll move on to the next four states and gradually give them away for a day's ceasefire.

I've read the link and can't see anything to suggest the US can't do a deal due to any agreement with the EU
This quote:

The clash between Washington's earlier demands and a critical raw materials partnership signed between Brussels and Kyiv in 2021 has been one of the key sticking points in the talks.
Not that it prevents a deal being done, but I’ve not seen this mentioned before and thought it interesting.

US can recognise whatever the hell it wants, Ukraine wont and nor will Europe imho.

And now You have Good Cop/Bad cop thing going on, Vance saying a deal could likely be signed next week and bad cop Rubio saying on same day, if ceasefire isnt implemented in days (here's looking at you Nazi Russia) they're walking away.

Trump is the only leader of a western country to recognise Jerusalem as the capital of Israel. The free western world will never accept Crimea as being Russian.

This is a bit of an obscure one. It may be a canary in the coalmine, but what is the canary telling us?

I'm not sure that this signifies a possible impending change in leadership. IMO, it is more likely to be Putin beginning a Stalin style purge to consolidate his position.
See what you think.

And if they walk away they will continue supporting Russia either neutrally or proactively.
It would probably be clearer all round if they walk away, as at the moment I don't see what positives the US brings to the table for Ukraine or Europe 🤷🏼‍♂️.

If Putin appointed Mishustin as Prime Minister, but Mishustin is the de facto head of a group of elites that try to distance themselves from discussion about the war...then I'm quite confused.
Maybe Putin felt less threatened by Mishustin than by the previous incumbent 🤔.

Expect a few bodies to fall from high windows and their 'illegal' funds confiscated to help fill the gap.

Why this pastor would have originally been an opponent of supporting Ukraine...🤷🏼‍♂️. Still, Bucha visit gives him a revelation 👏🏼.
From Silicon Bites
Edition No131 | 18-04-2025 - A man who’s been called Trump's spiritual advisor visited Ukraine and then seemed to have a revelation. 'Putin is pure evil', he pronounced in his verdict on Russia's war against Ukraine.

Televangelist Pastor Mark Burns declared, "I now believe that supporting Ukraine is America first." He is now urging the US to send Kyiv more tanks, fighter jets, and air defence. This is a dramatic turnaround, because only last month, when Trump paused military aid to Ukraine, Pastor Mark Burns, backed the decision.

Burns's dramatic shift in stance comes after a trip to Ukraine. There he witnessed the atrocities committed by Russia first-hand, visiting the site of a missile attack in Kryvyi Rih, which killed 20 people, including nine children.

“Being on the ground in Ukraine has changed my opinion significantly.” Said Burns in an interview with The Kyiv Independent. “I am on record as being one of the staunch opponents of supporting Ukraine. But it took me being in Kyiv, being at Bucha, seeing the atrocities that have taken place, innocent lives being killed, executed.”
