If Putin appointed Mishustin as Prime Minister, but Mishustin is the de facto head of a group of elites that try to distance themselves from discussion about the war...then I'm quite confused.
Maybe Putin felt less threatened by Mishustin than by the previous incumbent 🤔.
I think Mashutin was elevated (during covid) because he showed a level of competence in the tax office.

But as with any appointment, if they ever start to threaten Putins grip on power in any way, they will be disposed of.

The tax office raid may well be a precursor to "finding corruption" violations, Putins kangaroo court will rubber stamp?

'humanitarian' 🤣🤣 oh do eff off Putin
He's kidding no-one.

He wouldn't call a two day ceasefire unless it suited him. Potential reasons might be:

1. He's playing Trump again.
2. Russian commanders have asked for a respite.
3. They weren't planning any operations over Easter anyway.
4. They are running short of some things and need time to re-stock.
5. Ukraine was gaining the upper hand, so called the time out.

What it won't be due to, is Putin having a humanitarian thought, or some kind of epiphany after 38 months of relentless brutality.

Zelenskyy mentioned the Russians are building up new forces for a summer offensive. A ceasefire now allows Russia to finish that without the Ukrainians blasting everything to shit with FPV drones.

If he announces a ceasefire, Trump will relax sanctions. Then he can go back to all out war again as Trump won't re-impose sanctions.

They have tried full on attacks and been wiped out. Can see them moving troops up to the front ready to attack first thing Tuesday morning.

Yes this looks like the start of a campaign to discredit Mashutin - he’s become too popular and needs to be put in his place.

It might be
It lasted longer than i thought 😉
Russia being Russia, i.e. wholly untrustworthy, we won't know if or when the war is about to come to an end, if only because Russia has run out of troops or equipment.

If they announce a ceasefire, no-one will be able to trust them anyway. So the war could in theory drag on for a while even after the Russian war machine has ground to a halt.

And surely it demonstrates to Trump and his cohorts Russia can NEVER be trusted.

Some good points in there. The gist of it is Nato needs to catch up with the advances Ukraine (and Russia) have made in drone warfare and EW.

Perhaps he saved the most important point until last. It is obviously based on the experience of Ukraine. Nato must be prepared to defend its territory before Russia makes a bridgehead. If it does, then Nato probably won't be able to get those territories back. A sobering thought.
