As US are trying to pressure Ukraine Zelenskyy into recognising Crimea as Russian, and says deal close.... Zelenskyy responds.

I’ve noticed this is a tactic they use a lot - see comments about UK hate speech laws recently.

“A deal is close” is a lie that represents “the other party is rejecting one of our demands”. They’ve stopped short of just announcing that it’s been agreed regardless, which is a small mercy.

He will...but at some point Ukraine and Europe need to start ignoring what Trump says. I'm sure the last military aid from the US is nearly drawn down - there won't be any more.
Time to treat Russia and Trump as the partners that they are.
I suspect/fear the UK is years away from being at a point of readiness to publicly break with the US.

The SDR is going to be interesting, but the most important parts will probably be the ones we don’t hear about. “Replace the Trident missiles with ones we can maintain ourselves”, for example.

There's an interesting article below the one about the explosions at Kirzhach.

It's about a 17 year old Chechen who killed a policeman, and the brutality of the official response by Kadyrov. It mentions how Kadyrov was installed as a leader of Chechnya by Moscow, and none of the Chechens wanted him. It would seem the Chechen war of the 1990s is not over.

Edit: Sirnormangall you beat me to it. We must have been reading it at the same time.

I suspect you are right - a huge mental shift for UK politics, that many will remain in denial about.
Trident, yes... Maybe the US will pull the plug on it - they seem to be drifting so quickly away from Europe 😬.
Vive la France !

We need to invest in tactical nukes too imho.

But French systems seem more preferable to US systems in the new world order.
