Absolutely - Trump didn't say it in jest at all IMO. It was a campaign statement but I think he actually believed he could bully Zelenskiy (and/or Putin?) into a ceasefire. Trump didn't think through any 'complexities', like Putin may not want to stop, or Ukraine may not want to surrender. Trump's arrogance about his own ability is breathtaking.
But 53 times, wow, good data gathering 👍.
Agreed. All of that. His arrogance led him to repeat the 'joke' 53 times. He believed - fervently - in his own ability, without countenancing the possibility of anything happening that would prevent the inevitable - his stopping the war within 24 hours.

Now he’s saying he thinks that Zelenskyy is willing to give up Crimea. We’ve seen this tactic before - trying to bounce people into changing their position by lying to the press that they already have.

72 hour cease fire, according to Putin.........

PS Makes sure Ukraine doesn't embarrass the c##t during his parade.
I feel this has got potential for Ukraine to do exactly that, or more precisely, make Putin think they will disrupt the parade, or blow up the bridge etc.

Pictures of Ukrainian troops still in Kursk, memes of someone holding the Ukrainian trident in Red Square, Big arrows pointing at the Kerch Bridge etc.

Maybe they can hack any digital display in Red Square and surroundings 👍

They mustered one (Czech built) T-34 and a few Ural trucks - along with a fly-past clearly filmed on rehearsal day - in last years Victory Day parade. This year it'll be the Cope Cage Lada Division* and an arthritic donkey borrowed from the local animal sanctuary

And don't forget the pushchairs

Good response from Ukraine. Why should they dance to Russia’s tune? If Russia is serious about a ceasefire why not do it now? Or is it that Putin doesn’t want anything embarrassing to happen during his parade in front of his C list political celebs? Let Putin sweat and don’t agree to his meaningless ceasefire

Ukraine's response should be a 30 day ceasefire starting now, or there will be no ceasefire on May 9th.
