STH at Gillingham and Withdean. :albion2:

Didn’t have one at the Goldstone, as it was more of a POTG culture, even though I went to every game in the final Goldstone season so might as well have had a ST. (That did involve queuing at the ticket office to secure tickets for some of the later games, though).

Only made it to a dozen or so games at the Amex, consequence of now living abroad.

I had a season ticket at Gillingham. It was a paper block of tickets that you tore off for each match (same at withdean I seem to
remember). Oh how times have changed.

Went to all but three of the Priestfield era games, but I didn’t buy a season ticket in the first year (as someone already mentioned Archer and Bellotti were still in control) and when the second season came around I just decided to POTG for that season too. So only 3 out of our 4 stadia season tickets for me.

Yep had a season ticket at Gillingham for both seasons. Used to go up on the A21 coach from the E/B bus depot. Desperate days but also some good times! Remember we came out of one game (after another defeat) and the Rambler Coach wouldn’t start so a load of us had to get out and push the bloody thing not realising until that time that the thing was parked on a slight slope😆. Main memories of the tedious journey was the Ivan & George double act, The Sherwood brothers, the score prediction game & being held by the Old Bill a couple of miles from the ground so they could escort the coach in.

I had one for the second season at Priestfield and also the last couple of seasons at tne Goldstone. Primary reason for getting the Priestfield one was that there was talk that we would move back to Withdean part way through the season so wanted to make sure we were in pole position for that. Obviously that didn’t happen and, if I was being cynical, I’d say it was a great marketing ploy by Dick to get more income to help pay for the move (not that I’m complaining).

My one and only visit to Gillingham was paying £2 as a child to watch the 4-4 draw with Colchester on Boxing Day. 25p a goal. Bargain!
My only visit was the 2-2 draw against Hull. Must have been one of the last games at Gillingham. Remember how Albion conceded 2 goals in the 2nd half against 10 men.

I’ve have had a season ticket at all four grounds. I have had one for the vast majority of my 48 years as a fan.

Just doing some research, but does anyone have any idea of how many season ticket holders we had while exiled at Preistfield from 1997-99 ?

Also, anyone have a decent estimate on how many people that have had season tickets at each of our 4 (relatively) recent homes?

(ie I wouldn't count as only had STs at Goldstone and Amex)

Many thanks in advance
I know a man who probably has a good idea.

And he's a man I regularly travelled to Priestfield with too, as it happens.

An interesting story about Gillingham was that the turnstile operators and those doing the counting of money were all employed by Gillingham. There was feelings that the attendance was being deliberately shown as lower and money being syphoned off.

After a month of this, Knight asked that before the crowd was announced it was to be brought to him in the directors box. Anyway they came up and told him it was 1700 and something to which he nodded and the said 'try again'. They looked a bit bemused until he told them he had placed clickers outside each turnstile block and he knew it was nearer 2000 and something. Funny enough they later said there was a block they had forgotten to count!

Chatting to DK a few years later, he was clear that Paul Scally was a shyster. I had thought it was solely because of the ‘had us over a barrel’ level of rent.

Never bothered with an ST at the Goldstone or Gillingham as POTG was so easy. Had one at both Withdean and Amex.

Think I did one game in the first Gillingham season but more in the second.

Should have added to my earlier post that I’ve had a season ticket at all 4 of our “home” grounds. Funnily enough I hadn’t ever thought about it until you asked!

Didn’t have a ST. Was 15 at the time but did a few trips up on the old B&H double deckers with a friend.

Not sure what was worse, the football or the long wait before the game. IIRC the buses were scheduled to give people a bit of drinking time before the game. Only if you were 15, there wasn’t much else to do.

Fond memories though. OGH always used to score when I went.
